Until the players are back and training I don’t expect anyone. This year will be a bedding in year from Slot. Maybe 1 or 2 late in the window.
Don’t expect to see a lot of activity,Slot will want to see how the lads go, but another quality CB is probably a mustard see where the second GK is going, assuming Kelleher goes, don’t really want him to but he needs a No 1 slot.
Yes, the fee is odd but that Caicedo money has to go somewhere.
Yeah we’re at least two squad players short from last season, and if Mo is cut loose…
But we have already have a large squad, and probably have covered those two spaces with players from the youth set up already, or with last summer’s signings.
Unless Slot throws Quansah in at the deep end, we’re well short of reliable options in central defence. And the midfield holding position? We have two candidates, one of which is a veteran and the other relatively inexperienced and just coming back from a long term injury. But we all know this.
I think we’re short of real quality, rather than numbers. A centre back is a must. A defensive midfielder is a must. If possible, an upgrade on either Luiz or Nunez would go a long way towards improving our attacking output.
He made 33 appearances last season and you can count the number of proper mistakes on one hand. I think the considerations that will determine how hard we push for a new CB will be Gomez’s role and Ibou’s fitness.
No he can’t handle it!!!
BUY THE 18 YEAR OLD FROM FRANCE!

The post I responded to talked about numbers, so my reply did too.
As for quality, I think while there are improvements that can be had, we’re also fine to go as we are. That obviously depends on how Slot wants to set the team up and how players adapt to that, or wanting to stay, but on the whole we’re good enough to challenge for silverware with the players we have.
On Quansah, I agree with @Limiescouse, he played a lot last season and looked fine. I’m excited to see if he can kick on this year. I think other players within our squad are equally underappreciated.
Nunez is an interesting one, he clearly has talent but has been inconsistent with us to date and seemed to have struggled with 1-2-1s. Given slot’s coaching background, I am really excited to see if he can unlock the goal machine within Nunez - perhaps that requires creating certain types of opportunities that are more favourable for him - it is noticeable that over the last two seasons Slot’s teams have differed on how they have created the bulk of their opportunities, with the first season from the flanks, the second through the middle.

Thank you! I don’t know why people are so blasé about the DM situation.
I am confused.
Can I still call Anthony Gordon a useless speed merchant and a twat or is their really a chance we might sign him?
Help me out!
Wait till Nicola opens the thread
Yes! Call him what you like. Let it all out.
Then if we sign him, and he does well, you should insist that you never said a bad word about him

He’s a useless speed merchant twat, but with some potential room for improvement (the window on which will close the day after deadline day)

Not much chance of that.
I’m still not sure why we would be interested in the Gordon deal unless Diaz or Jota are planning to leave. Certainly not for Quansah or Gomez which the journalists were hinting at.
It’s always possible that our guys have spotted some unseen potential in him, but the article I read about him picked out that he had “won” a lot of penalties as being his key skill.
Now aside from the fact that Liverpool players aren’t awarded penalties even if they have been literally kicked in the heart, I don’t see what a convincing diver actually adds to the team dynamic.

Def need CB and DM. Will be interesting to see what the new coach does with our attackers. I’d be relaxed if no changes there

The internet never forgets and I’m sure many of us wrote some bad things about him in the last two years.
He’s a diving cheating twat whichever way you cut it.
