The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Depends if he is a priority number 1 otherwise they will have the registeration issue.

Price set at Ā£50m, with a clause stating Barca canā€™t come near us for 2 years (unless its Nunez they want).

Nope.

80m

Andre Trinidadeā€™s gone to the Wolves (the team that is). Werenā€™t we after him
But couldnā€™t get him because he was part of their Copa Libertadores run?

Donā€™t find it worrying. He certainly seems to be playing with a smile and renewed vigour. I think weā€™ll see a big season from him. Hope he stays longer, but no one should resent him for honouring his contract and leaving for a final big pay day. He has cemented his place as one of our greatest ever

Yup, that was a really odd rumour but all the reliable journos said we were interested.

Different manager, different tacticsā€¦ and different situation right now. With our midfield numbers, it would be unclear how regularly Andre would play if we purchased him now (my guess would be not enough to settle quickly).

Andre might reach those heights in time and after he acclimatizes, but I think we are currently looking for a different calibre or more established DM at this point (or otherwise a youth player). He could be a great pick-up for Wolves though.

On the 3 whose contracts are winding down:

  • TAA: Iā€™m least worried about TAA leaving because Iā€™ve got high hopes for Bradley.

  • VVD: I believe he will extend if we give him a decent offer. And if he doesnā€™t there are still decent options out there.

  • Salah: I really hope this is the season Nunez breaks out and scores a ton because otherwise we really need someone who can take up the goalscoring burden. Thankfully, we are building quite a big war chest but I donā€™t see obvious candidates. Hence I hope we can extend him for an additional year.

Trent is a top player in his peak years. I really wouldnā€™t want to lose him. If he was to go, I would rather that we got a fee for him, but I suspect he would run his contract down. He is entitled to do that but it would be a blow considering that he is an academy player.

But Bradley has been tested and passed the grade fully so the comparison isnā€™t a particularly good one.

So was Michael Owenā€¦and McManaman

For me Virg is the hardest to replace as he is a beast of a defender.

Trents passing canā€™t be replaced, but Bradley offers strengths in other areas.

When you look at Mo and the numbers he posts, you might think he would be missed the most, but then look at when he went to afcon and his injury last season, we were on fire and didnā€™t we win all the games? Our performances havenā€™t dipped when he has been missing as the other forwards have stepped up, think back to one of our finest games under Klopp, Barcelona, Mo was absent.

No slighton Mo as this season he has been back to his best, whereas last season his performances were erratic

I see Virgil staying.

Mo leaving.

Trentā€™s the one where Iā€™m ambivalent. Heā€™s got the chance to be the next long term LFC captain but I can visualise him thinking of wanting to win something in Spain after winning everything there is in English football.

Yep, they were the ones I had in mind.

I do wonder if the club expect Trent to stay if they havenā€™t actively looked for a sale at this point.

We cannot replace any of them 1-1, itā€™s impossible. Trent is a special case because optimizing his strengths is also a big question. However, in my opinion, we need to shift our gameplay when any one of them leaves.

For me, yes I agree that VVD is a beast of a defender but I am not blind to a steady decline year-by-year and I believe there are some good LCBs who could match his performance levels of a year or two from now. And of the 3, I think he is the likeliest to stay.

There isnā€™t too big a shortage of good attainable LCBs on the market right now. Whereas I think the shortage of very goalscoring RWs is bigger and more of a problem.

Yes and no. VVD has dropped his level, but heā€™s still extremely dominant in the air. Finding someone who is that good at defense, dominates in duels, and is also that good with the ball is almost impossible.

For example, I think Saliba is a better defender now, but we cannot rely on his duel game like we can with VVD.

Trent- would be gutted if he left but also excited to see Bradley develop.

VVD- we could never replace him. Heā€™s a generational talent. Hopefully heā€™ll extend for a couple of years to give us time to sign a couple more CBs and let them settle.

Salah- again thereā€™s no replacement. No chance that Nunez will get close to Moā€™s consistent output. We just have to hope that our depth in attack will mean the goals and assists can be spread about more

Someone weā€™ve been somewhat linked toā€¦ Simakan that is.

:rotating_light::red_circle: Yes, RB Leipzig exploring deal to sign AntĆ³nio #Silva until Deadline Day :heavy_check_mark:

One reason: Mohamed Simakan could leave the club in the next 48 hours.

:warning: Understand thereā€™s an offical proposal from Leipzig for the 20 y/o talented defender from SL Benfica!
