The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

He’s a good player with a fantastic attitude. Would be sorry to see him leave. The problem, as others have mentioned, is that we still don’t really know what his best position is in our system.
I’d rather see him go to Brighton than a lot of other clubs.

In this system, it’s the #10 spot. And he’s got people ahead of him. Though some of which aren’t always impressive, so it’s up to him to prove he can push for more minutes. A lot of it happens in training of course. In the previous system, he had two #8 slots to compete for. Plus he can do a job on the right, but if Salah is staying put, it doesn’t change much for Harvey’s current situation.

Well, he should get a chance to show what he can do there in the cup.

That’s what the hold-up over his contract is about, he wants more of the share of revenue from letters

Rumor has Liverpool inquiring about holding midfielder Joao Gomes. Asking price might be around 50-60m pounds.

Does Gomes have the right properties to be a DM in Arne Slot’s system?

Is there any chance we could pry Tchouameni from Real Madrid for that price tag or less instead? Seems Real Madrid is not so keen on his performances lately but they are misusing him as a CB to be fair.

Speculation article on Tchouameni to LFC via Teamtalk if you want to go have a read.

Would love Tchoumeni, but I think the idea of him being out of favour at Real are fanciful. Don’t they play him ahead of Camavinga when he’s fit?

Maybe if it wasn’t for Zubimendi missing the Spanish hills.

Joao Gomes is a very good player. Several were highlighting him when he was still in South America, but it’s always tricky to know how it will translate directly to the Prem. A bit later Andre was another who was attracting some attention.

Wolves snapped both up. Gomes looks like he could play at the very top, no problem. Andre looks a level below that, on what I’ve seen, though he is a Prem level player.

I would be happy to sign Joao Gomes. If it is 50-60M the price seems a bit high, but I might be unrealistic on that.

I looked it up the other day when we were first being linked, he basically plays 90 mins every game…

I was buying into the out of favor narrative but I was wrong. He plays. I don’t think choo-choo is on the menu.

I can’t say if Liverpool’s interest is genuine but it was first reported by Ornstein and now Conte himself says that Kvaratskhelia has asked to leave… Getting him now and selling Nunez would probably be the dream January window (getting a CB, too, would be taking it too far - when did Liverpool start buying players they need?!).

We need someone to help Mamardashvili settle in when he gets here.

Completely unrelated to the main point about our supposed interest…but a guy who asked to leave last summer saying again now he wants to leave is a “bolt from the blue”?

We dont need him. We are very well stocked in his preferred position. But he is excellent and it would be fascinating to see how we’d evolve if this move happened.

Swap deal for Nunez.

If Liverpool are really interested in him , I think we’ve got the financial leeway w.r.t FFP to pull this off.

I can see him being used in tandem with Diaz , Jota , Gakpo in the hybrid left winger - center forward roles that all the three play with at times.

I understand why people say we don’t need him but at the same time can we see Salah, Nunez and Jota all still being here in 2 years time?

We need other positions as well but if we have a chance to sign a potentially world class 23 year old we shouldn’t ignore just because we can get 20 games out of Jota a season.

And quite often , we play with a 4-2-4 sorta formation where we the 10 often becomes a second forward.

To be honest, he looks more like a Salah successor than any player Liverpool have on their books. I’m not saying that he would be anywhere as good if he moved to Liverpool, obviously, no one can guarantee that, but he’s a crazy guy in terms of dedication and ability.

I read a detailed article on him in The Athletic last summer after Mamardashvili had signed - not that I felt psychic or anything but… Of course, handing in transfer requests doesn’t sit well with me but he wants to leave Napoli and according to Conte, he wanted it last summer as well. It’s not like a particular club unsettled him, he just doesn’t want to be there anymore.

Besides, Diaz would probably be a better option than Nunez in centre forward role (who wouldn’t at this moment, unfortunately), and Kvaratskhelia could provide a similar spark to team’s season in the way Diaz did when he signed.

Also, as much as I admire Jota’s ability, he’s often unavailable because of various injuries. I put serious faith in Danns for some reason, it’s been like that from the first time I saw him play - but he’ll probably head out on loan, so it would be nice to sign a competent forward now.
