The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

One from the BBC gossip page aggregation…

Liverpool are lining up Atletico Madrid’s Portugal forward Joao Felix, 23, as a potential replacement for Salah. (Football Transfers)

Imagine you personally run the club. Would you tell anybody about transfer plans and deals in the pipeline? Neither would I.

i’d take that for Salah,

no qualms about it!

Not this late in the window. 150M and they can have him at end of season.

I think it’s an indication of just how far his star has fallen since he turned to shit following AFCON. None of us would even consider selling if he was in any kind of lethal form.

I don’t actually follow the rumours outside this thread so I honestly didn’t take this transfer news seriously, thinking it was just parent club NCU’s doing to disrupt before we play them. Should I be taking this seriously?

He literally scored 30 goals last season. His other seasons have seen 44, 31, 31, 27, 23 goals, so even in the abysmal last season he was close to what his best goalscoring rate was. That’s including when he was being panned for being absolutely useless at the start of the season, being too wide, and all that stuff.

16 assists too, which is tied for his best season with us. His underlying numbers might not be the best anymore, but I think claiming that he’s turned to shit and not recovered since is wide of the mark, at least where it counts the most.

The other thing to consider with the Saudi clubs is that you need to get the money upfront. There isn’t a way to enforce them to pay installments.

If they’d approached in June with, say, £150m cash upfront then we would have a conversation probably. At this point in the window they can go swivel.

Also, for that matter, Jürgen said the club hasn’t received any offer, and even if they did, the answer is no.

How much more clarity do people want?

Hes utter wank

Salah’s agent has said that he’s staying in Liverpool. Where does this come in anyway ?

Never in human history has a person said one thing then done another.

The problem here is the timing of this transfer. We’ll have no time to find an adequate replacement and on top of that, we are still short in the defensive department.

Letting Salah go now would be nothing short of suicide.

Bordering on Torres

I think the club can then offload the pending payments to a third party and get the money upfront.

For a fee, which will probably depend on the level of risk of non-payment.

Yep. So Liverpool can quote higher

Then don’t complain about clarity, because you’ll never get it?

I wouldn’t freak out about losing Mo…still a great footballer, but on the downward arc of his trajectory as a player.

But, would not entertain any offer less that €200M, all up front, at this time. Also, I’d make sure I have Kudus, Doucoure, and Inacio (or one of the other 2 young CBs we’ve been linked with) on instant alert. €200M pays for all three.

With afcon coming up , we don’t even have a short term substitute for Salah coming up. Selling him this year isn’t a feasible idea. Need him to see out this season, get suitable match time to Doak in January and then if the bid is forthcoming next summer , leave if he’s interested so that Doak gets proper game time with us being able to know whether he suits in the highest form. Also , gives us time to scout ahead for a replacement.

The way Saudi is spending , its almost like the club’s have a mandate to spend once every three years.

We’ve got 115m ready to spend as shown in the Caicedo deal. Liverpool don’t need to sell to buy anymore.
