Sorry mate, I’d hit reply to the above post but for some reason it didn’t show as a reply.
Meant Kerkez.
Something tells me Kerkez isn’t the one. Maybe it’s all just too obvious or the fact there’s too many rumours for him to actually be the target.
My guess is Miguel Gutiérrez. Right age, three full seasons in a top flight league, €35m release clause.
Seems like the journos have been briefed about a big summer. Lewis Steele and Chris Bascombe both posted articles about a busy summer with a lot of finds available.
Although ironically one of them goes on to say Kerkez might be too expensive.
This is Bascombe’s bit on it:
Kerkez was signed for £15.5 million by Hughes during his spell at Bournemouth, his stellar form on the south coast validating the sporting director’s eye for talent. An issue with Hungarian international Kerkez is his current valuation, with Liverpool reluctant to overpay for a left-back as they are looking for a player to share the workload with Scotland captain Andy Robertson, not necessarily relegate him to back-up status.
Also:
As well as Núñez, fringe players such as Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas will be available. There are also likely to be offers for Scotland winger Ben Doak, who is back on Merseyside recovering from injury after a successful loan spell at Middlesbrough.
Have we given up on Doak then?
Maybe don’t believe everything a “journalist” writes?
Is Zoran claiming to be s journalist?
Ive not seen anything to justify the hype he has.
We are probably back to keeping our list of transfer targets as secret as possible.
No more long drawn out transfer sagas like Bellingham , Lavia & Caicedo.
Don’t think the price for Kerkez is going to be a big issue. I think he’s having a release clause too.
Some suggestion of that was made when Doak went out on loan last summer and again in the winter window when there was a bid for him by, I think Palace, with journalists saying that the offer was turned down because we were wanting more, not because he was viewed as being a part of our first team’s long-term plans.
He has great underground knowledge of the Balkans and a pretty decent poster IMO
Kerkez appears to be in very high demand, so it wouldn’t be surprising if we get priced out for him. Although, this could all be part of the public side of negotiations and we could just be setting expectations over how much we would be willing to pay.
I’ve taken to lurking around the Bournemouth forum.
Let’s see if what they are saying there comes true
And considering that Bournemouth needs a keeper too. We’ll probably be getting somewhere close to 25m for Kelleher. And anything more than that would almost pay for the Mamardashvili transfer too.
The price for Kerkez won’t be major concern.
Bournemouth won’t need to sell and he’ll have plenty of admirers. I see it as quite similar to the Lavia situation and we all know we stood out ground on our valuation but someone was willing to go higher.
It’s so much can we afford him, it’s do we value him in the same range as what’s being asked for.
I was under the impression that We knew the price for Lavia only to not pull the trigger earlier because we were chasing Caicedo too and Gravenberch as well.
By the time we went in for Lavia at the price Leicester quoted, Chelsea had come in to buy him.
Either way , we got the better midfielders at the end. We got Mac and Grav for a much better price than what Chelsea paid for Lavia and Caicedo.
Think we remember that quite differently, including him playing for Southampton and not Leicester.
But you’re right, all’s well that ends well.
Sorry my bad. Southampton.
Kerkez is last years Guéhi.
Seems we have briefed the press we will spend big this summer.
