Agreed. Weâve hardly seen anything of him in the first team, but heâs done well on loan apparently. At least have a look in pre-season before destroying the poor ladâs soul by sending him to those ghouls.
I donât see a problem selling Doak now, and would much prefer to have a deal done sooner rather than later.
He doesnât appear to be in Arneâs plans and the club will have plans for the remaining forwards in the squad, and identified players they would like to bring in should they have the opportunity to do so.
Liverpool has some emerging young talent for the forward berths, that are vying for squad inclusion⌠Doak, while widely known, is only one of many. If he is worth good money, temptation might have us cashing in.
The last I heard last week was personal agreement was pretty much done and agreement between us and B.L mostly done, just a matter of finalizing minor structure of future bonus payments.
Was a report this morning about Bayer trying to up the price but that was only from Rory Jenning, so I take it with a bucketload of salt.
No sure Iâm a fan of doing business with Everton. I know you shouldnât care about letting your hand-me-downs go to your little brother but itâd twang a little bit if he goes on to do well there.
I also wonder how willing theyâd be to sell to us. I can imagine a scenario where weâre trying to buy Branthwaite and they just flat out refuse to deal with us whilst accepting offers from the likes of City or Arsenal.
As long as the price is decent iâm ok with it. I would much prefer to show we wont stand in the way of a move uneccessarily than fret the player may do well after his move.
If weâre thinking about selling Doak then may aswell do a Chelsea and move the whole academy on (with the exception of Rio and Nyoni who have a chance still of breaking through).
Same, if we judge itâs the right decision (might not agree with it, depends from case to case, in this one I would understand) and the right money, I donât care too much where he goes. Also no issues with signing players from such places either, even if itâs rare.
But isnât that sort of the point. Weâre an elite level club, weâll be lucky to have a truly first team level player come through every few years.
Those that donât make it are sold to help fund other activity. And in doing so it frees up space for the next wave to take the step up to the next level. Only in doing so do we find the gems that have the level of potential we need.
However, you are absolutely right that there seems to be very few to get really excited about beyond Neyoni and Ngumoha and we do need a stream of homegrown talent to fill out the squad.
We just won the league with 4 academy graduates in the side, 3 of whom played significant minutes. Comparisons to Chelsea are knee jerk nonsense, especially over a story of moving on a kid who didnt arrive at Liverpool until he had already played senior football for another club.
