Maybe.
That’s what’s reported, but it may not have suited the club or player at that point.
Annyway…we differ on the issue.
I think he did all expected of him when needed. To me, that is enough. Best of luck to him.
In retrospect we likely should have accepted that offer of 7 mil back then but while this has backfired in this case, being tough negotiators has paid off overall for us.
Whatever the view on the above though. Good luck to Nat. I’m happy for him to get to move on now and hopefully do great with his new club.
Was going to mention the loan fees. Not sure of the timing but I also recall wishing we had accepted the fees offered previously but if we’ve been chalking up a couple of mil per loan fee we may have done better this way.
There are differences in who gets to be counted as an U21 on the B list - UEFA requires the player to have also been at the club for 2 years. In neither set of rules are you allowed to keep topping up on non-homegrown players with the addition of homegrown players.
Why don’t we gazzump PSG and buy Zabarnyi the Bournemouth CH whom the supporters rate higher than Huisjin. They want 70M but we could get him for 60M as Paris have only offered 55M?
I would be very happy if we signed Fofana. Two footed. Fast as you like. Skills for days. Still raw, and the end product needs to improve, but his dribbling, running with the ball and crossing are all pretty good.
If we signed him he would be a useful squad man right away, and if he gets close to fulfilling his potential he could become a fixture in the side in a world where the likes of Salah and Diaz age out.
Still some way off until then, but it would be a good move, in my opinion.
It is Textor their owners fault as he didn’t sell his stake in Crystal Palace (€200M) early enough to be able to help Lyon to keep within PSR rules in France. All they needed was another €30M to escape relegation they are a lot more ruthless in France than our league where only the poorer teams got punished.
