The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Happy to wait until January or next summer because the right players are not available.

The plan for the next 10 months won’t be as chaotic as this summer.

  • Bring in the best CB possible to replace Matip. Gvardiol the cunt should have waited.

  • Bring in one CM to replace Thiago/Hendo/Fab. Has to be a monster signing (Tchoumeni?)

  • Replace Salah if necessary.

If the choice is to overpay for Doucoure or wait, I’m fine waiting.

And we have one year to prepare for it.

Personally I’m not expecting us to do crazy things in the transfer market for that one. We have 4 other quality attackers on our books already +Doak (and Elliott).

But the only true right winger will be an 18 yr old

Thanks for agreeing the spend would be 30m. The point you are waffling on about a nobody is a different matter altogether it has nothing to do with net spend.

Net spend for yourself is one of your little soapboxes you like to whine at. So if you sell your house for 100k buy another for 200k did that new house not cost 200k yes net spend is only 100k but the amount spent is 200k. Yourself and manymore like to say FSG have a net spend of only 30mil as a stick to beat them without giving context the total spend is 100mil.

We‘ll add another but it won’t be an £80m player.

Would have loved Diaby here.

Depends on what we get having waited. Last summer it was “it’ll be worth waiting for Bellingham next summer…”

Didn’t go entirely to plan but we did get two nice additions instead of him but could we have got one of them last summer instead?

Maybe we are waiting to get a proper recruitment team in place.

We’ve only had since November last year to sort that out.

Ah the buying the house analogy, not heard that 1 before.

Net spend is not something I or other fans “that like to whine at” made up, it’s a pretty big deal in corporate business. Companies and investors like to know what their net profit is, chief exec’s wanna know what their net pay is.

If you’re not spending, you don’t have a business and in football you have to keep spending if you want to progress, that’s just the nature of it. It’s no good spending 100m if behind that you have to sell assets like Mo for example to breakeven. Our pattern of net spend doesn’t really give much confidence to fans we can be where we wanna be, we did absolutely nothing for 5 years until Klopp came onboard…this is what bothers us. Klopp leaving and us going on another 5 year spell under these owners doing nothing, this is what bothers us.

I know but without being in the closed circle we don’t know what we are after position or player.
Evidently we have some names but whoever they are we aren’t going know unless they really are those out there and if I’m honest Graverbach seems solely from Germany, Teatre solely from one newspaper and the Palace one just seems a bit 2+2=5

Gravenberch?

Very true. I just think we should have perhaps made sure we’d sorted the recruitment team before now given the turnover we were expecting to see this summer.

Not spending money on the wrong player is preferable to spending money for the sake of it. But if it’s continually a case of “jam tomorrow” when it’s quite clear we have needs now then people will begin to lose confidence about these things.

Last summer I was frustrated that we didn’t get a midfielder. I was incredulous at the suggestion that none of those midfielders that did move last summer could have come in and done a job for us. We’ve apparently been sniffing around some of them this summer and the fees now being quoted for the likes of Palhinha, Doucoure and Nunes would now make signing them too expensive for us.

I just wonder which centre mid and which centre back that have moved this summer will we be being priced out of next summer when we go calling.

You’re trying to change the point from what you normally whine about. So going your if your not spending line have the club not spent 111 mil so far this summer on players simple yes or no please. As for the house analogy you cant disagree so as usual you just ignore it.

We went after Tchouameni last summer. Then you had, in the span of a few months, Enzo, Caicedo, and Lavia pop up as targets linked with us who all went to Chelsea.

In all likelihood, there are going to be very good talents that emerge over the next few months that will be worth chasing. But if we sign Doucoure, it’s unlikely we’ll do so.

It’s all seemed a bit of mess since the sales to Saudi Arabia.

If we are to buy we are eithier making it work on two deals and will get one done late if it can’t or are waiting on something.

Alternatively we’ve basically put the bids down and if nothing changes we won’t budge and are happy to leave it.

Three of our last four have come out of nowhere so I still hold out hope and I think it’s an error not to get someone in but I guess we will see.

Dom
Endo
And Gakpo just suddenly happened

Dom had the odd link but it felt more like lazy journalism because he was a CM the main talk was of Newcastle. Thankfully he didn’t or the weekend would have been bad.

As long as it’s not Doucoure emerging in the next few months and we get priced out by a rival.

We need a CB :expressionless:

Not changing anything, I’m one that very much likes to stick to his guns. We’ve spent 111m yes, we’ve also spent roughly 56m net…both are factually correct statements you cannot disagree with, but I’ve always gone by net because that’s ultimately what matters, whether it be for Liverpool or a rival club.

Do you think if we were to sell Salah tomorrow for 100m, we’d have been ambitious this summer given we’ve still spent 111m? That’s the question you have to ask yourself as fans this is what we’ve had to deal with for 12 years. It’s one thing to spend on what you need to replace anyway as it’s no longer in your possession and it’s another thing to build on what you’ve established based on the project set out from the start.
