I’d hope we don’t sell Gakpo. One of our best three attacking players last season and we have enough changes happening in the squad without needing to go get a replacement for him as well.
They can turn their attention elsewhere thank you kindly.
If we are looking for a young wide forward I think we can’t do much better than this lad. Premier league proven. I think he can have the same impact that Sadio did when he joined us. With far better players around him he will be ten times as effective.
Kudus’ price is now well above his level of development. He could turn out to be the 80-100m player West Ham seemingly value him at, but spend that sort of money on him he’d need to already be there. And I dont think many people would argue he is.
Yeah, i think even West Ham fans where questioning him for much of the second half of the season
Kudus and even Eze too were way too inconsistent over the course of the entire season.
Diaz probably over Gakpo on who should be sold first.
I like Kudus, and he is definitely an explosive player. On his day he can do things that very few can. I’m willing him to turn into a Sadio Mane or something.
And therein lies the problem. As everyone says, the money West Ham are asking for seems way too high in relation to what he has done so far.
Mind you, I have been on board the Ekitike train and there’s a similar issue there, as they want 100M euros for a player who still has plenty of work to do to become the finished article.
Prefer to keep both but definitely Gakpo of the two. Better finisher. Has been brilliant at times and I think his best is still to come
jesus!! thats what they want for him?! good luck
I think a lot are forgetting that at the end of the season, when Mo went off the boil. Diaz was the one performing and dragging us over the line.
But this isn’t true though. The last 10 games of the season each scored 4 goals and Diaz had 2 assists Mo had 1.
Haha @Sportbilly1966
Gakpo would definitely have a price and it wouldn’t necessarily have to be “Wirtz” sort of money. Nobody would pay that for him anyway, because he’s not that good. Always have to be careful not to overrate someone when trying to show how he’s underrated.
Gakpo gets more sympathy (the exact same Jota used to get) now because he has made a step forward last season, back in his position and I don’t think Slot views him as a central option. He’s a LW now.
He’s younger than Diaz, was our second highest goalscorer last season and has 3 years left on his deal. Him and Salah are probably certain to be here next season, along with a backup like Jota.
I believe he’s staying and I don’t think he would try to force a move to Bayern.
Never said he’s that good. Just stating that Liverpool would need to get an offer in the region of 100m to think about doing business.
For me, both Díaz and Gakpo are one or two levels below elite players like Mané or Salah.
Gakpo is more well-rounded; he can do everything, but I don’t rate his football IQ highly. He plays well when we control the game, but isn’t involved much when our midfield has a bad game. His decision-making is also predictable. He’s a quality player to have, but far from being a key member to build a system around. The same goes for Diaz. If we have opportunities for another elite signing like Wirtz this summer, then cashing in one of Díaz/Gakpo isn’t a big problem.
I think it might be less than that, but I don’t expect him to move.
We are already cashing in on Nunez. The Diaz noise is primarily Barcelona-generated and secondarily him/his dad. He is not Mané’s prime level (few players are) but he still helps pull the team up the pitch with his pace and tenacity (he doesn’t have Mané’s incredible strength). I expect both to stay this season. Barca talk a lot of shite but they are still skint.
Barca still managing to pull some deals off where most top European clubs would be interested; Olmo last summer (we were also in for him). But it seems like their focus (in terms of attacking signings this summer) switched to Nico Williams and that young Swedish winger, Bardghji. Perisic is staying at PSV, will sign a new 2-year deal.
