I think there were some reports when Van Dijk signed his extension that Liverpool were prepared to spend big this window.
They’ve spent ~240M so far and there’s a real chance they could spend 150M+ more. And that’s without the outgoing that have and will happen over this next month or so.
Liverpool and England Under-20s midfielder James McConnell, 20, is close to signing a new long-term deal with the club and going out on loan for the season. (Mail)
Napoli, AC Milan, Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan are interested in Liverpool’s 27-year-old Italy winger Federico Chiesa. (Calciomercato - in Italian)
Interested in taking him on loan while only paying part of his salary.
If we sell him we should be insisting on 15m pounds given we’ve revived him and he’s now a PL winner; otherwise we can keep him until new signings have settled and then someone can pay the same in January.
Actually, tbf Belgian players are about the thing Tavolieri is routinely reliable for.
Everything else he takes a scattergun approach to and hopes it sticks (usually doesn’t, but oddly enough he was the first to report the ekitike fee and payment structure).
Wouldn’t normally pay much heed to anything he says, but there might actually be something in this.
As far as the transfer goes, I like Chiesa but I understand all parties desire for change. Malick Fofana would be a good signing for us.
Rodrygo is a not yet established player who cannot get much of a look in at a top team, hence him not really being established and why he’s seemingly available.
“A starter”…someone who only plays when more valued players are unavailable and is frustrated enough about his role player status that he and the club are both open to him leaving.
He started a majority of their games the last three seasons, including in the Champions League. That’s despite the fact that he’s been blocked from his preferred position by two of the top 5 forwards in world football - Vicinius and Mbappé. He’s forced to play as a RW when he prefers to play as a LW or centrally.
