With any luck removing the tumour will see the general health of the place improve to the extent valued and missed posters will return.

Guehi and Isak (in that order), would be great and sufficient to go into the next season.

Cancerous fuck.

We said that about a number of players in our recent history, Marc Gonzalez, Ryan Babel, and most recently Darwin Nunez

What is very unlikely to entice members, new and old, is tedious bickering about other members in transfer threads.

Keep it on topic please.

Regarding Mo and what we have seen in pre season, Frimmy (or is it Jezzy) is his backup :face_blowing_a_kiss:

I don’t know who that is but hopefully that means we’ve still got Bradley and Frimpong for the RB position whilst Mo is away.

Last examples showed us that we didn’t necessarily need one direct replacement for Salah while he was away.

At times and in different games or periods of games it was Jota, Ox, Diaz, Elliott… with mixed success of course.

Let’s see how we finish this window first and then we’ll see when we get to that period, who is the best choice. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s again a combination of a few players, depending who is fit, in form, style plays a part, sometimes the opponent might also.

Maybe we could even flip to a 4-4-2 with Szobo and Wirtz more narrowly on the sides (or Frimpong as the RW), allowing us to field Ekitike and Isak together up top.

There will surely be a few different options what to do.

Frimbo or Jezza, surely? We should really have a formal Scousification ceremony when new players join.

We are buying another striker!

Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City . (Athletic - subscription required)

This would not be a good move. Aren’t Lyon broke and about to be demoted?

Lyon are interested in English midfielder Tyler Morton, 22, and have made contact with Liverpool . (Times)

I think they have auccessfulky appealed their second division relegation, still in shit financially though.

I absolutely think we need one more forward if both Nunez and Chiesa depart as expected and in addition to Isak. Nunez is the priority to sell. I wouldn’t be dejected if Chiesa stayed as he can play across the front three. If he does go, I think Rodrygo makes a lot of sense due to his versatility. He’d get plenty of time of his preferred left side and he has proven he can play on the right, which will be great cover for Mo. Ideally our forwards will be Isak, Ekitike, Salah, Gakpo, Rodrygo, and Rio as a 6th option. Then go get Guehi and we are fighting for every trophy.

Yeah, I understand why people are over Chiesa, but I think if you compare him and Darwin, the reasons neither were favoured by Slot last year I think leaves Chiesa a lot more room to turn that around than Darwin has. When you think about the likely fee and the characteristics of Ekitike and Isak and what roles still need to be filled then it makes a lot more sense to prioritize Darwin’s exit over Chiesa’s

Agree. If Chiesa stays and we get Isak, then we don’t need another forward. I have this feeling that Chiesa can be a solid contributor. Last season was rough, no doubt, but I think he has something to offer and hopefully wants to prove himself. He certainly has quality.

I don’t mind us keeping Chiesa but if he doesn’t get used more then he did in the second half of last season, it’s basically the same as not having him. He should only be the 6th option in our forwards if kept.

I think Chiesa is cooked physically. His incredible pace was a key asset prior to his injuries. These days, he can turn it on in spurts here and there, but it exposes him to injuries that keep him out for extended periods.

He just cannot be depended on as anything more than an emergency option, IMO. And I understand why he’d rather go somewhere where he can get more playing time.

That would make me question why we bought him in in the first place. Buying a player thats lost a yard of pace isnt really what we do these days.

The data says he hasn’t. It said he doesnt do as many sprints as he used to, but a big part of that was that his last season at Juve he played more centrally and so had fewer opportunities to open up than when playing wide. But when he had the opportunity he was clocked at his pre-injury top speeds.

But with that said, the experience of last season showed he was still physically diminished. The question is how much of that was a known issue that we are confident can be resolved vs how much was a roll of the dice that didnt pay off

The year before we signed him, he still displayed tremendous pace. He just got hurt so often that it didn’t really matter.

Perhaps we hoped that some time with our training staff would help. But then he arrived injured and by the time he was fit, Arne had his rotation set.
