The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I do think we should go in for him.

The problem remains the prices. We were in for Yoro as well too (who I think does have a making of a good defender, wrong choice of club).

I can’t believe we’re just now looking around Europe for a CB. Presumably we’ve known for months that Quansah was going and would need replacing. Surely there’s some kind of plan in place.

The whole idea of us starting to look for a centre back is absolutely absurd, if you understand anything about the way recruitment works at a modern top level club.

Transfers are worked on months, if not years in advance. Liverpool will have ongoing relationships with multiple clubs and agents and will be working consistently on hundreds of players.

They’ve just told the journalists now… after all you don’t want teams gamzumping deals

Exactly this. Liverpool scouts will have a longlist of players they think will be useful for a position. The transfer/data analytics team will then whittle it down to a shortlist, of which one or two will become priorities who we try to sign.

The interesting part of the Joyce article is that the club are clearly comfortable letting on that Leoni is on the shortlist.

The club realised that the fans have had nothing to whine about all summer and for a lot thats the best bit so they have have dragged the CB on a bit to keep those happy.

You know me too well!

That Leoni player, who I’ve never heard of, sounds like exactly the profile of player we should be in for. Hope that Joyce speaking publicly about our interest means we’ve signed him.

Him and Guehi with then presumably outs of Nunez, Chiesa, Tsimikas, Doak, Morton (done deal?) I’d be happy with that. Delighted, in fact.

Were we to get Isak as well then that would pretty much be the greatest transfer window since Kenny and Hansen.

Probably someone we are actively working on rather than just someone we are interested in however he is Italian and they are all shit or something.

After so many failures with Italian players you never know we might have finally found one that will be good enough for us after all they are very good at defending.

It’s pretty much who we’ve bought. We haven’t bought Totti, Baggio or Del Piero have we. We bought two with injury issues, one who had an attitude issue and Dossena.

I joke every time it crops up, fact people treat it with seriousness. The Italians at Chelsea never had issues.

That’s because of the haute couture.

We’ve also been fleeced on the price. Taken together, there is an understandable wariness from fans about Made in Italy

Our issue for buying a crock.

I totally understand about selling to them.

And also wariness about fans made in Italy.

Basically anything Made in Italy - except if it is one of @Bekloppt ā€˜fashion’ man bags?

I haven’t seen 10 games and I wouldn’t believe anyone who claimed they had! Still, when his name was first linked a few weeks ago, I looked at Parma clips, and the main thing that impressed me was Leoni’s strength. In one sequence he bumped Lukaku off the ball and held his ground really well, which is remarkable for an 18 year old.

The other thing that caught my eye was that he looked to have a turn of pace, which you don’t usually associate with such a big lad.

Obviously our recruitment team will know everything there is to know to make an informed judgement, but based on the limited action I’ve seen, I’d be happy if we signed him.

He looks like Florian Wirtz just with more hair :joy:

Usain Bolt 6’5 and 14.7 stone was a big lad with a turn of pace.
