The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I think we could possibly bring in one, two, three, four or more players. That’s my opinion after doing all the analysis.

I don’t see how we can bring in just one. Simple maths would suggest it needs to be the case.

Out: Nunez, Diaz, surely Chiesa and the loss of Jota.
In: Ekitike, likely Isak.

Four departures and two arrivals would be mad even with the emergence of Rio. He needs to be option number six in the attacking group and get all of Chiesa’s minutes, league cup games and help plug the hole when Salah leaves. He can’t be your first and only attacking option off the bench in January with Mo gone and Isak gets a knock.

That why the Diaz sale was baffling unless a replacement is already lined up.

He wanted a move.
Puzzling, he was playing in the best team he could have

I know but we sold him without yet having brought in a replacement.

Not that puzzling when you think about it - he wanted to earn more money and we weren’t willing to pay him what he wanted.

The money/wages thing has been disputed though

Feels like we’re leaking this Barcola stuff to shake Isak loose.

That doesn’t answer my point.

It looks like Elliott will be joining Morton at Lyon. According to TIA we will gent £15M for him plus add ons and a buy back clause.

£15m? That seems rather low

His actual wages have been disputed; not that he wanted a bumper contract

Are you sure? That’s exactly what we’ve got for Morton. Elliot would cost a bit more tbf

I don’t see that anywhere.

I assume he would be more than 15m

That’s because I wasn’t responding to your point.

@Quicksand It was pretty clear from reports that Diaz wanted to earn more money, and that we weren’t willing to meet his demands and were instead happy to let his contract run down. I don’t blame him, nor do I blame us in this scenario. Very good player on his day, a tad inconsistent, and I think selling him was the right move for all parties given his apparent desire to make one last big contract before he passes his sell-by date.

The stance has been 40 +buy back/sell on, or 50 up front. Definitely nowhere near as low as Morton and not in Lyon price range.

I thought that we wanted £40M maybe they are confusing it with the Tyler Morton transfer which was £15M but I thought Elliott was going to Leipzig?
