The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I presume Quansah will be used as the 5th option? Who knows, there may be a twist or two left in the window.

Yeah we do.

We don’t set in a transfer on Salah though when those funds won’t be available until some time in the future and we would be scrambling around for one on deadline day.

Quansah as the 5th choice. If Chambers or someone else for that matter on loan prove themselves over the coming season , we’ll have decent enough cover there even if Matip leaves and we make a starting CB signing the next season.

Possibly. The little I’ve seen of him he looks really promising. Would be great to give him first team minutes, as long as it can be done in a controlled way, like we tried to do with Baj. Don’t want to be forced to rely too heavily on him which isn’t guaranteed with thr injury records of Ibou and Matip, not to mention some officials fixation with wanting to make disciplinary examples of our players.

Gary Lineker has Fabrizio Romano on his podcast:

I found this quite interesting. Not sure I believe him about who he supports, though.

According to Pearce no more incomings.

I could say the same as well.

I’d be very surprised at this point. The Gravenberch one is very late. I can only assume with that one is that Bayern were holding out for more cash from someone else (United?) It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a CB coming in in early January. That’s the next obvious area needing attention.

Let’s hope we don’t get any injuries or suspensions in defence then. Oops! We already have.

According to Barry Sith no more incomings.

I don’t mind having to play Gomez and Matip in one or two league games like we’re having to now, what frustrates me about not bringing in another CB is it increases the chance we end up having to play Virg or Konate in Europa League group games. Especially with Gomez being the backup at RB. There’s some lads who just shouldn’t be playing Europa League in the first half of the season and Virj and Konate fall in that category for me. I’d rather they didn’t even get on the plane to the aways.

Seems like the idea is to use Quansah as our 5th CB, Europa league group stage could be ideal for him.

He doesn’t actually say that its unlikely hes sitting on the fence.

Matip and Gomez have played in champions league finals. They’re more than capable of getting us through the europa group stage

For me it’s not necessarily about their quality,it’s about their fragility.

Listening to Klopps press conference and he didnt rule out another signing. Last time he did. This time he didnt. Wont be surprised if we sign someone.

Oh completely agree mate. Would be made up if they play every Europa game at centre half together.

But with Gomez also the first backup to Trent, we’re one injury away from a world where either Virg and/or Trent are playing all the Europa games or Matip or Gomez are playing three games a week. Which isn’t ideal.

Matip won’t be playing 3 games a week. He simply can’t. I don’t think he can even do two on a regular basis.

If Quansah stays, then he probably gets a role in the early rounds of the Europa League. Endo can also cover CB.

After the decable a few seasons ago you’d think club would learn lesson re CBs…but nope!

Theyve even let Phillips go…

Good. The guy is 27 this year, totally unsuited to the way we play and is now behind Quansah in the pecking order.

He deserves a chance to go somewhere and play some footy, not be our eternal back up to the back up to the back up option.
