The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

I don’t disagree mate. I would have preferred to keep him. We must be pretty confident in getting a replacement though.

I would hope so.

Still think it’s a shame we couldn’t keep him. My 8yo is devastated that he can’t sing the ‘…and he plays for Liverpool’ song anymore

We could have kept him.

Well we’ve still got Gakpo and Salah, we’ve signed Hugo, yes we need another but…

It’s funny how we’ve got used to having 4-5 really elite forward options. When you look at the likes of Arsenal that’s at least 3-4 more than they have. :joy:

Probably still got 2 more than they have even when they sign Eze.

Ademola Lookman seemed like clubs might chase him this summer but still at Atalanta. Is he happy there or has no one shown an interest?

Rather ironic that no one’s had a “look”

There you go. Man.

That could be low key their best signing of the summer and the one most likely to make a real difference. Not only does it provide a potential and much needed upgrade to Martinelli, it could free them up to try Martinelli through the middle, a role he has actually done ok in at times, when Gyokeres inevitably fails.

He would stumble upon a tactic that he hadn’t thought of up to now?

I know plenty seemingly want Arsenal to achieve greatness but I’m really not seeing it.

That or we’re just better than Newcastle and aren’t forcing a player to stay playing for us when he wants to leave. We’ve been seeing this with Barca previously with Diaz, so its very much like Isak (known for some time he’s wanting to move on). LFC is the better run club. Yep. We’ve not got the replacements in, but that’s more down to other clubs not being well oiled machines. And a dirth of players in the positions we’re looking to fill.

Right… let’s get this Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion thread back on topic …

RB Leipzig have agreed personal terms with Liverpool and England Under-21 midfielder Harvey Elliott, 22, as Netherlands midfielder Xavi Simons, 22, looks close to completing a move to Chelsea. (Florian Plettenberg), external

Marseille are interested in signing 29-year-old Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas, who is expected to leave Liverpool this summer. (Footmercato - in French)

And… Nathan Collins. Swoop? Get Guehi next summer when he’s out of contract?

Tottenham are stepping up their efforts to sign Brentford and Ireland defender Nathan Collins, 24, who has also attracted interest from Liverpool . (Caught Offside)

Good to see we are letting more go before we bring any in. Id keep Elliot now especially as Isak looks less likely to happen every day.
Weve spent a bit of cash this summer but the squad is way to thin.
Buy then sell. Its a huge risk letting more go.

Re Simons i read that Chelsea have to sell 2 attackers before they are going to bring anymore forwards in.

If we have a solid link for where Kostas might go, that will free up a second-non homegrown spot in the squad. Hopefully that would let us look for some forward reinforcement while also keeping a spot open for Isak in case something changes there.

Nathan Collins seems like an odd link. He moved to Stoke young enough to count as homegrown but I imagine he’d be tricky to get out of Brentford at this stage of the window.

Yeah I’d be happy if Elliot stayed now as well. While forward might not be his best position, we are low enough in numbers there that Elliot would be an option at least and the rumored offer from Leipzig isn’t that good.

I don’t see it. It would probably be the opposite with that set of players, double false #9’s and Martinelli still on the left. His game is not complete enough to be a main central option.

Elliott really isn’t an option for the forward line. He’s an attacking midfielder and is behind Wirtz, Szoboslai and Jones in that position. If he stays, he’ll get a few games in the cups. I doubt that’s what he wants at this stage of his career.
