The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Jota is rapid - you may be confusing him with Jimenez.

Not having a back up LB to the back up, probably.

Ooh, can we have the argument about the difference between ā€œfastā€ and ā€œquickā€ again?!

Our recruitment has been so good that I’m fine either way.

My take is Sarr has a higher ceiling, but Jota is closer to his best level even now. Either one would be useful… I lean towards Sarr as Mo can play through the middle too, and I think we are short out wide since we play with two fast, wide forwards. But what do I know! Not one Jot(a)!

Aah, my mistake. In that case, Michael Edwards can breathe a sigh of relief, as I’m not coming for his job then!

Crazy couple of hours haha. I’d take Jota.

Didn’t Hoever say recently that he wasn’t physical enough yet to play at CB.

Wow! I guess Liverpool never figured out what to do with him. He’ll be a player i think. I wonder how much he’ll be involved with wolves first team of he goes

I’d be really disappointed to see Hoever move on. I think he’s going to be fantastic. I suppose Koumetia and Williams have pushed him back in both his positions.

Koumetia seems to be their main focus right now - and he looks the business in my opinion.

I rated Hoever and I think he’ll become a really good CB, but he wasn’t essential to our needs in the immediate term, and if he greases the wheels for a Jota deal, then all the better.

The plan should be to win as much as we possible can over the next 2-3 years while the main core of players are still in their primes. After that it’s a crap shoot - but the fact is we have a top side at this minute and we need to capitalize on that. If we win another 2-3 leagues and another 2-3 CLs with maybe the odd FA or League cup thrown in, then it’ll have been well worth it.

But at the end of the day the disappointment can be tempered by the small matter of Trent fucking Alexander-Arnold.

Think this is a smart sacrifice for LFC to make.

Some here might slate me for this, but he gave me visions of Ake…talented footballer but ā€œlesserā€ players would play ahead of him in all of his positions because of more specific qualities for that role.

The club are making moves to solidify the squad. We sometimes like to overthink things , but they have found certain youth players were not ready to make the requisite steps to becoming a first team player/rotation player. Jurgen has already picked the two youth players (neco and curtis) that will feature heavily moving into this season, now we have bought a back up left back and a midfielder, i would say if we get Jota now, we have addressed most of our key issues, except for 4th choice centre back the last remaining piece.

Reliable rumours (Joyce, Reddy) that the Jota fee is going to be in excess of Ā£35m, in which case rather than being priced out of Sarr, it sounds we’ve decided that Jota is a better fit for what we’re looking for.

But I thought all the journos were saying we had to get players out first because of squad limitations and funds?

Think there are probably a few of the outgoings making progress now.

Certainty expecting three or maybe even all four of Wilson, Shaq, Origi and Brewster to leave under various arrangements before the window closes now.

If we end up selling both Origi and Brewster, I wouldn’t mind Jota and Sarr.

Might be greedy of me, but there you have it!

Isn’t a bit premature to suggest that isn’t what is happening? No doubt the club is negotiating various deals behind the scenes, they may now be much more confident as to which ones are going to happen…or it was just a deliberate smokescreen the journalists were happy to be part of.

And he is quick very quick

I’m sure we’ll need to sell players but what I always disputed was that we needed to do so first, as most of the journos have suggested.
