The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Hmm, well West Ham are trying for Tarkowski so who knows…

Now Pearce says Ox isn’t leaving, not that I would trust our journos after we absolutely weren’t interested in Thiago

I think not a chance West ham will sell Isaa Diop… Except for him and Ogbonna they are also short on CBs… Moreover their offer for Tarkowsji was 25 million upfront and would expect atleast that from us… Going by our recent transfers I don’t think we are in for him… Kabak or someone else we haven’t been linked with seems to be more like it…

Tarkowski is a good defender , better than maguire but we need to have a better benchwarmer

They’ve been touting him about for most of the summer.

Oh… Is it? I was not aware of that mate… He reminds me of Sakho at times… Not sure whether he is an upgrade over Lovren except for his age…

Kabak obviously a talent (mare v Bayern notwithstanding) and a purchase/investment in the future but I’ve been fixated on the Omar Colley link since it was published. Reliable, robust, dependable, mobile, excellent defender. Because of his age my guess is £8-12M and a value signing that would provide fantastic depth from the bench.

Is this the Gambian guy from Italian League?

Yes. He’s a very dogged defender, by all accounts.

All right, all right… I’ll get mi coat.

I expect we sign a CB after what has happened today.

Or not, the way Fabinho has played.

I stand corrected, he was bloody boss

Personally I don’t think we should sign another CB because of Koumetio.

Just wanted to add that Kabak was born in 2000 and I think he is the best CB of that age group and younger.

Think at some point the decision will probably need to be made that Matip needs to move on. He’s never seemingly available when we need him. Can probably get a good price for him still based on his on pitch performances just getting frustrated with his availability. I’ve always liked Fabinho whenever he has covered at CB. VvD, Gomez, Fabinho and Kabak or similar?

Reports coming out that hes going to be out for 2 months backs this up and probably does mitigate another CB arriving.

Pearce on Kabak and the CB situation:

In the process of checking those rumours out. I’d be surprised if there was anything in it.

I certainly don’t think it would be a young option as they already have a few of them with Koumetio rated the best of them currently. Koumetio also has a minor knock, otherwise he would have made the bench.

I’ve said all summer that another CB should be a priority. Matip just isn’t available often enough.

At 20 years of age Kabak needs to be playing every game of every season for the next few years to develope properly,to bring him into our set up now to play a few games as back up then be sat on the bench for the bulk of the season, isn’t good for him or us,i also don’t think he’s good enough to replace Matip/Lovren,if people were worried about Fabinho playing 4th CB,you’d be shitting yourself placing your trust in an inexperienced 20 year old Turkish kid who’s never played in the Prem before.

If he was a few years older with a lot more experience and on the verge of being a big player, then i could understand it,but as it is,Schalke can knock the mistakes out of him, like in this weekends 8-0 loss to Bayern,so we aren’t stunting his development on our bench/reserves,i can’t see this move atm, maybe one in a couple of years time, unless we buy him and loan him out for a couple of years but thats still not covering our 4th choice CB cover.

We definitely need to buy another experienced CH as we have lost 3 of them to injury including Billy the kid if Fabinho gets injured we are screwed

I thought Gomez had suffered from additional injuries other than those you listed (I don’t know for certain) and he has again versus Chelsea due to an injury.

For me, and I’m picking some others, an “injury prone” player can be labelled as such due to muscle injuries as well as impact injuries.

For a fairly young player Joe has been out for long periods and seems susceptible to getting injured.
He isn’t in the same category as Matip and Ox and I certainly hope he can keep himself out of the physio room.

A lot of posters were relatively comfortable with only having Fab as “4th choice”, but with Matip out for at least a month and continuing to show he is a ridiculous China bones, and Joe unavailable, we might have to sign another CB (Unless JK is comfortable promoting Koumetio).

I’d be amazed if Koumetio featured in any league games this year. He’s an exciting prospect, for sure, but he’s nowhere near that level yet.
