Seriously what is Danny Murphys deal with us?

Murphy, bitter man.

He has to talk shite to get noticed,he’s a poor pundit so has to say something left field

He probably gets paid extra for taking shit about us.
Ex-Red full time arsehole.

Murphy is still bitter about Xabi Alonso taking his place.

I would imagine that the signing of Thiago actually had the opposite effect. He’s only had one training session yet every one of our players constantly looked to get him on the ball at every opportunity yesterday.

We have a group of winners. Thiago will raise standards and push us towards more success. I can’t imagine for a second there are lots of unhappy faces, maybe one or two players will be a bit more anxious about their minutes but that is it.

You’ll probably find an article from Murphy moaning how we can’t hope to keep the league title by not buying anyone and improving.

So we do and he puts this out. At this point I’d probably move Matip on and go after a defender as he is about as reliable as a Chocolate Tea Pot.

I think Sakho and Kelly have both done well at Palace.

Why would they want Brewster if they already have Baatshuyi?

I don’t know whether he actually meant it in a negative way. He is probably right that some players may see the arrival as taking minutes away from them, but i agree with you that his arrival has probably more than compensated with positive vibes.

I saw someone on twitter highlight Thiago’s reaction when Sadio was fouled by Christensen - jumping out of his seat. That to me suggests he is already starting to bond with his team mates.

No unhappy faces Danny… those boys are winners, and when a player like Thiago joins it is a good thing. A very good thing.

One or two fringe midfielders might leave, and that won’t hurt us on the pitch at all. If Wijnaldum goes that would be the one we would miss, but I think he will stay. And anyhow, Thiago is an upgrade.

I think the main midfield pool to be used this season will be:

Henderson
Thiago
Keita
Wijnaldum
Fabinho
Jones

Milner to be used sparingly, due to age, but still reliably.
Ox might be gone, but either way, his Liverpool career hasn’t really ignited.
Grujic not making the grade.
Wilson not making the grade.

That’s half a dozen top options for three positions, and since we ask a lot of our midfielders, it’s perfect.

Danny Murphy… thanks for chipping in with the goals against Man Utd, I really appreciated that, all those years ago now… but as a pundit… bobbins!

I always go back to us signing Virgil. Both Matip and Lovren would have rightly seen that as a huge threat to them, yet the behind scenes footage we saw of the side greeting Virgil the say he signed was of these players absolutely thrilled to have brought in someone of that undoubted quality.

Players who are going to get offended or threatened because we bring in a player who plays their position are players who would have already been weeded out of this club by now.

Exactly. There aren’t any players with that weak minded defeatist mentality at this club. Tbf to our midfielders most our fans wanted them all gone a few years back but the more Klopp bought in new players (ox, fab, naby) the more the others knuckled down and worked there socks off raising their standards to a point where they became undroppable. Don’t see how that suddenly changes with the arrival of another world class player.

The Murphy comment is just a figure of speech. No point getting worked up about it.If players weren’t looking at Thiago as competing for their starting spot in the first team then they have become complacent and need to be worried as they now have some serious competition in the middle, which is good for the team.

Wasn’t there an interview with Lovren at the time where he reacted angrily to being asked about VVD’s imminent arrival?

I had actually thought it was quite the opposite with Lovren greeting Virgil fairly warmly and saying Virgil made him a better player. But I could have easily missed something.

Yeah. The announcement happened right before game and so Virgil was in the stands that night. There is footage of him standing in the tunnel greeting the players coming in at half time and Lovren gave him a massive hug like he was seeing a long lost brother.

I dont know if he ever said anything that made it seem like he was frustrated, but it if he did it was probably more along the lines at being frustrated that people assumed it was him who was going to miss out as a result.

Crystal Palace owner has completely denied this bid for Brewester… He says “we are not in contact let alone a bid and has asked Sky to take down thus news as its false” .

He’s getting carried away thinking they just had a famous win over a big club. He’ll come around after Luton smashes United.
