The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

At least, not on the forums… :joy:

Milner also totally accepted he would be a squad player and get minutes filling in all over the team. Henderson simply might not want that. Every report I’ve read say’s Henderson doesn’t want to be an offield captain, a cheerleader from the sidelines etc.

Another point I forgot to mention, Henderson does get injured frequently, that must only get worse the older he gets. The medical science could be telling Edwards that Henderson will need to start getting his minutes managed.

I also do wonder if Henderson does actually fancy playing abroad before he starts to wane… If you look at the clubs who are interested - PSG, Juve, Atletico I wouldn’t blame him personally, 3 amazing cities, completly different cultures and lifestyles.

Personally think it’s agent bullshit, and slightly disappointed Hendo has let it play out this way,

That’s also a good point.

My very personal opinion is, FSG/Klopp/LFC have same plan with Henderson as they have/had with Milner. They expect him to stay here till he is 35/6 and the later years more devoted to guiding young players than leading the team.

This is exactly where I land, I personally think it’s complete bullshit. The strange part to me however is how it’s spread as wildfire today.

I also agree with this.

I think lost in my initial message is that I’m not at all understanding the priority to get this done today, or even this entire summer, with 2 years remaining on his deal.

I think the twitterati are just desperate for transfer news while prepping themselves for some fsg out action should we not sign anyone else. This pops up from nowhere and rattles everyone’s cage.

I think it’s just literally rubbish based on the lack of stuff happening.

Shame we haven’t a Thiago type will he/won’t he signing thing to keep them like those at the Athletic happy.

Anyhow if Milner is going next summer we need to keep Henderson. Unless we are about to buy a new midfield.

It’s also up to Klopp who plays.

If only Brighton could be our new Bournemouth!

It makes sense for the player and maybe for BHA, but it may not be a great idea for us. We have three CBs coming back from injury and one who is, as yet, untested in the PL. Good price though.

Edwards is going to get out his laptop and show Brighton how, relative to the fee they’re getting for White, Nat is actually now a steal at £25m but as a special, just for them, we’ll let them have him for £20m plus £5m add ons payable if he gets given a squad number.

Yeah, I would rather he stayed til Jan at least but its becoming clear that we need the money and Phillips is one of our more easily saleable assets. Also you can’t blame the player if he wants to go. He’ll be on a very low wage with us. I bet Brighton can’t believe their luck getting £50 million for Ben White. If Phillips goes there for less than a third of that then that’s a good bit of business by them.

I wouldn’t blame him either. We nearly swapped him for Gareth Barry and he fought his way back to club captain and legend. Hope he’s stays here for many more years but can see the attraction of Madrid or Turin. Paris less so.

Clint Dempsey (Barry was part of the Alonso break down with Rafa), and it wasnt really a close run thing. Fulham wanted it. No one on our end did, so we didn’t sign Dempsey.

That’s right, I stand corrected. Just glad Brendan decided to keep him

I thought Brendan did?

He did. But he left it up to Hendo. We now know Hendo sought Downing out for advice on what to do, and Downing said he should stay and fight for his place, which he did. The rest is history.
