The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

And long may it last…

Just saying Aquaducts is quicker and marginally less art snobbish

Tried to swap a table lamp for him as I remember?

Sorry I didn’t see who posted it in the links thread but no, Scott Dann would not be a good move even on a free. He can barely move these days.

If it came to the point of us starting Scott Dann then I would much rather Jarell Quansah or Billy Koumetio was getting the opportunity.

26? Maybe in the far north; is that where you were? 26 is the overnight low right now.

OK. Enough weather. As I said in the thread that can’t be replied to, and I know this isn’t the Who Would You Buy? thread, but if we are selling or loaning Phillips, Williams and Davies, then how about free agent Scott Dann as an emergency back-up CB? He is a Red after all.

EDIT: Didn’t notice @Sweeting’s post. Didn’t know he was so crocked.

Yeah, Dann is finished for a good while now (and who knows if he was ever good enough for this level, probably not). Finished even for Palace, let alone us.

Scott Dan…is Roy back in charge?

Finally 2 out.

So that’s £17mil in for Grujic and Awoyoni, Phillips for £15mil, Wilson for £12mil, Williams for £10mil, Shaqiri for £13mil

£67mil… basically the currently mooted prices for Malen and Saul…

@Iftikhar Awoniyi back to your beloved Union, gives you extra supporting incentive!

All joking aside, if he wasn’t getting a serious look in preseason from Klopp, I’m happy for him that he’s coming back to Berlin.

We seem to have lowered our prices. I thought we wanted 15m for Grüjic

Thought the same. I can’t find the article but it was reported Edwards declined £15M last summer for Grujic bc he wanted £20M.

Hopefully it’s because there’s a purchase lined up

(Sort of starting my own unreliable rumour)

Watch out for incoming flights :airplane:from Spain.

I did expect to see a tad higher fees for Grujić and Awoniyi but I guess that I underestimated the impact of COVID-19 a bit. We’ll see what Edwards can raise for the rest of the unwanted players - I imagine Phillips and Wilson will be the next out of the door. Shaqiri and especially Origi are those who worry me the most, to be honest.

Grujic cost us £5m I think and has brought in about £30m in loan and a transfer fees so thats not too bad.

I was leaning towards the Berlin clubs in any case. Awoniyi tips it a bit more towards Union.

Yeah moving on Shaqiri and Origi are probably key in freeing up squad places for new arrivals. It’s great getting the money in but both players out so far haven’t been part of our squad for awhile.

Presume that’s a typo! He actually raised around £3m in loan fees.

Still, a healthy profit on the player. Awoniyi too, cost £300k, never played a game for us, sold for £6.5m.

Reasonable fees for both. Think we’d all hoped to get a bit more for Grujic but for two players that have never been part of the first team picture that’s decent money and a good start on the clear out.

Also nice to see that despite some very lose links, the actual deals seem to be going through pretty quickly. Let’s hope the confidence around Wilson, Shaq and Phillips is because we know things are moving on those ones. Slight worry that there doesn’t appear to be much interest in Origi at the moment.
