They do, but that is largely an FFP thing where they are planning over a cycle not a single year, where reporting a loss in one year can limit your flexibility in others, so if reporting a loss can be avoided, that is often preferable. But reporting a loss, doesn’t mean your business is unprofitable.
Again, the key factor is the expected cash flow over that period. Issuing loads of new contracts just to lower amortization to report a profit doesn’t help if you then can’t spend that money on a new player you really needed.
Pretty much. I get the most irritable about football during silly season. Fans obsessing more over who gets signed rather than actual football. So long as the managing team is fine with our playing team, who really cares whether we spend money or not?
Sometimes it really feels like some just want to boast about their club having the biggest signings rather than being the best on the pitch.
A Mbappe to RM this window is a panic move on both player and RM.
RM want to spend a shitload of money on someone who is free in 12 months. Is your team that bad that you can’t wait, or are you concerned PSG will extend him, or do you fear there will be too much competition when he’s available on a free.
Mbappe, RM will still exist in 12 months, do you want to lose out on a huge signing bonus? Are you so desperate that you can’t wait 12 months? You move there in 12 month, then RM will have an extra 100m or so to actually add to the side that will ultimately help you achieve what you want to achieve for them.
Insanity from everyone bar psg, who would only be insane for not accepting a reasonably structured offer.
I don’t think either of these are the issue for Real Madrid, unless Mbappe has given them an ultimatum that he will only sign for them if they buy him now.
I think they are more concerned about what PSG may do if Madrid pick him up on a free next year. Any other club with Mbappe would see Real tying to lowball them. Instead they have to watch their back as PSG could easily activate buy out clauses in their player’s contracts or just outbid them on other players they really want to sign.
What makes sense to you and me is immaterial, FSG run their businesses at a profit, self sustaining. Its not just FFP, they just really liked that that was being introduced to Football as its how they always intended to run us.
And, again, I never said this was amortisation only or amortisation versus cash I said all 3 factors would need to be hit, cash, amortisation and wages.

Perez must be sh***ing himself then…
in case they come in for Mr Eyebrow himself - Ancelotti
I do wonder if it’s only Real Madrid, as they’re the only ones who are willing to offer him the wage he wants. I do get it, he could be for Madrid what Ronaldo was. The next generation of Madrid to go and win a fuck tonne. Crying shame though - always had him down for a stint in the PL for a bit first.
I can’t say I paid a great deal of attention to the Ronaldo-RM days, but wasn’t that team filled with absolutely outstanding players? I don’t look at RM now and think that they have the base team to do much damage, nor the funds to improve the situation, particularly if they make such an outlay on Mbappé.
I’m not even going to mention where they’ll be in 3-4 years time when Mbappé is in his prime and their best have retired. Better to be in your prime years playing alongside half of the World 11 team🤷🏾♀️.
Was listening to Kaveh Solhekol bloke on Sky, he was explaining PSG has paid Monaco €145 (of the €180 reported fee), however the last €35M is immediately due Monaco only if Mbappe is sold or renews his contract.
The only scenario in which Monaco doesn’t receive the €35 is if Mbappe was to leave on a free.
Which is basically why PSG are saying its got to at least be what they need to pay Monaco. Although personally I don’t think the stance makes that much sense. Yeah sure if they sell Mbappe it means he cost them €180m but if they don’t sell him and lose him for free he’s still cost them €145m. Whatever Real are offering (even if its on massively drawn out payment plans and loads of it only gets triggered with certain clauses) is closer to €180m than €0 is to €145m.
