Klopp on Rhian Brewster:
āIt would not be possible for me to understate my love, respect and admiration for Rhi. Such a special guy on and off the pitch. He is a natural-born goalscorer. Itās in his DNA. He is a coachās dream as he is so eager to learn but also a beacon of positive energy.ā
If you are comparing Rhian Brewster with Oxlade Chamberlain, i dont know what else i can say to you really. Rhian was a youth player who wanted to start and or dictate his minutes of play. Ox has already proven the quality he has over years at the club.
Honigstein talks about one case in his book on Klopp. When he was manager at Mainz one of the players who was meant to be a good friend of his had said he would stay for the upcoming season. At the last minute he got an offer from another club, Augsburg, with a substantial pay rise and effectively did a coutinho to force a move out as Mainz had already started their summer plans. To try to force the move he spoke out publically about how Klopp had mistreated him etc. Klopp asked the board to let him go and the move went ahead.
When we played Augsburg in the CL a couple of years ago, Klopp invited the guy to Anfield to watch the match.
Hereās where I come out on it. Iāve posted most of this before in different pieces so itās not in any way revelatory.
Looking at the squad on paper, itās a big squad and not much room for ānewā players. I respect that. But I also happen to think a lot of our depth have checkered injury history.
If Klopp feels he doesnāt need to strengthen then I trust his judgment. He sees these boys every day. But then as supporters, we should have only the highest expectations for this season and this great club.
Obviously making the point that Klopp only says positive things.
Ox was brilliant for 1 year. Heās proven damn all since then, albeit unlucky with injuries. Iād be delighted to be proved wrong but I donāt think he will ever be a regular starter for us, and definitely think we could find someone more suitable/reliable
I donāt think itās possible to clearly say he is above Jones and Milner, both have played when heās been on the bench. After the last game Elliott may well of played himself ahead of Ox now too.
You seem to be implying that if Klopp was minded to be honest his comments on Brewster would have been far less complimentary. With respect, thatās bollocks. What Klopp said about Brewster is exactly how he felt and not really hyperbole at the time, despite his subsequent trials and tribulations at Sheffield United.
Just last year we had to play Jota on a useless game and he was out for a significant time and the team struggled. Itās not impossible it will happen again.
I see the second Real Madrid bid for Mbappe has taken a nose dive. Even if we donāt get him, it makes me smile and laugh so much when I see Barcelona in financial ruin and Real Madrid not getting there way.
Strange one, linked to a 20 year old right winger bursting onto the scene at Reading in the Championship. If you were going to make something up wouldnāt it be higher profile or make more sense?
Read this article to find out more and he does seem the perfect personality for a Klopp player;
Only thing thatās nagging on me a little is that I was expecting Elliott to be a young player, above u23s but not really quite main squad yet (but with opportunities to earn that) as an option on right wing. Now Elliott has cemented himself all ready as an offensive number 8 in CM instead it does kind of leave a position open. Not sure Gordon is quite ready for it yet.
Probably nonsense, but such random nonsense it got me thinking and seeing a certain bizarre logic to it.
