Divock or @ubermick ?
I think he replaces Ox in the squad.
Unfortunately ox just doesn’t t produce the goods anymore.
Wait what? He just walked out into the sunset? And Allegri’s like yes he’s done enough. What is this a Western?
Agree defo has quality but he arrives and it undermines Keita’s position in the squad and given how much we’ve paid for him and how he has started the season I just can’t see Klopp doing it.
I think he will give Keita every chance this season to press his claim. He seems finally to be injury free and I think he’s the type of player who will get better every game he plays. Ideally he would step up and be the first inline when we rotate or have an injury essentially the Gini role.
I hope he does.
Couple of injuries and best laid plans go south quickly. Think we’ll see a more experienced midfield this week against Chelsea Hendo Thiago and Fab if all fit and available.
First choice midfield: Fab, Hendo, Thiago
If Fab gets injured, the captain drops deepest and Keïta comes in.
If Jordan or Thiago gets injured, Keïta comes in as a straight replacement.
Then we have Elliott, Ox, Milner and Jones.
Honestly, the midfield is sorted.
When does this merry go round end by the way?
August 31st.
Tuesday, 11pm for deal sheets to be in.
Interesting that the PL quietly abandoned that whole, window closes before the start of the season bollocks, huh?
I’m saying more of a doubt that it’s conditional on his staying or leaving.
I think our position on him hasn’t really changed since he signed his new contract. We’re not too fussed whether he goes or stays; he’s good but definitely replaceable. We won’t force him out because he still has a role in our squad, but if a good offer comes in and we already have opportunities lined up, it’s goodbye and thank you for your service. He’s a good player who’s clearly well-settled here, even though he’s not expected to play a regular role, so why not keep him if nothing attractive comes in?
By the comments he made in his press conference, again, Klopp is satisfied with his squad and there will be no incomings.
On Ox: “he has a dynamic that you cannot buy currently in the market”
On other clubs: “other clubs thought they needed to strengthen their offensive parts and had the resources to do it”
And the transfer window closing: “do I expect a busy 4 days for us? Not really to be 100 percent honest but you never know”
And yet fans seem to want to sell Ox at every chance they get. sigh
Because he’s been unfit or rubbish for the past 3 years
Based on the comments made from Jurgen clearly there, he seems to value Ox quite highly and does not agree with your assessment AT ALL
Klopp isn’t going to say anything mean about AOC, especially as he doesn’t want to dent his confidence, but I think what we have here is damning with faint praise.
He’s not going to say much else to be honest, season started, players here, not much financial backing to make serious incomings.
But no, there are plenty of players that can offer what Ox does, with better availability. But! They would probably cost a fair bit and it’s arguable that we even look to use a player like Ox anyway, he’s versatile and we use him more in his secondary roles anyway!
We also need to strengthen our offensive parts. Don’t get much better than Salah, Mane, Firmino and Jota. But after those 4 players for 3 positions its not that impressive. But tellingly he states about them having resources to do it!
Has Klopp EVER said anything other than positive things about players in public? Even limited players?
What do you expect him to say? Of course he’s going to try and boost his confidence (or his selling price). It’s evidentially true that Ox has not been dynamic for a long time
If Ox was available for last week, he would have started yet another game in midfield. Its proof of Klopps trust in Ox. He had to go and attend the birth of his child hence Harvey was handed that chance on a plate. Ox clearly has Klopps trust , im just a bit surprised the fans cant accept this. If he was garbage he wouldnt be starting games for us.
No it’s just proof that Thiago and Fab weren’t fit enough to start
But that proves my point. Ox adds depth to the squad and is crucial to be kept. especially since Thiago and Fab were not available , it pretty much showed the hierachy of midfielders
- Fabinho
- Henderson
- Thiago
- Keita
5.Ox - Milner
- Jones
- Harvey Elliott
Ox is still deemed as a necessity for the team especially given our congested fixture lists and eventual injury problems that will happen.
