The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Barcelona is taking Atletico down with them.

I actually think Felix for Griezmann, if they can find a way to do it, probably works well for both parties. Felix has been good but not what they needed him to be. He’d arguably do better at Barca and has more the players around him he looks like he needs to thrive. Griezmann no matter how well he does at barca will now never be considered good enough because the bar is just way too high (something he contributed to himself). He probably needs a change of scenery,

Have any of the reliable journos been told to stand down? Normally the club has been pretty up front if we’re not going to be doing any last minute business.

Perhaps I’m just clutching at straws but surely the club wouldn’t be this tone deaf?

Then I remember all those times it has been…

TBH, I don’t think they’re all that concerned. the roster is full of quality players. let the season roll on.

Which is fine. I can understand that belief and agree to a certain extent but why not say that we won’t be doing any business, as we normally do? Manage fans expectations.

think it’s pretty fair to say that message has been conveyed many times… If the right player comes along, then they’ll make a move. But they won’t buy a player just for the sake of it.

Mbappe is not going to Real. I think that’s fairly clear now, otherwise PSG would have jumped at the 150Mil or whatever their offer was instead of a Bosman in 4 months.

Could have had a deal in place to bring in a youngster if Origi left (as an example) Why say there’s no more business to do when something crazy can always happen? We know the club now play with their cards in a lead lined safe rather than waving them about the table like a drunk.

They have been for a couple of days. Problem is, everyone thinks they only report what the club tell them and that by saying we aren’t signing anyone its actually all part of our attempts to keep deals quiet. So by reporting that it must mean we’re definitely going to be signing someone.

That or they ran out of words reporting on all today’s contract extensions that were only done today to distract people from transfers we weren’t making.

Either way, I’d say they’re probably the people most pleased the window is over.

Would anyone have taken CR for the deal United got? I would, god I’m a whore. Very Gary Mc esq.

But Klopp wasn’t anywhere near as categorical in downplaying the likelihood of doing any further business as he has been previously. Made it fairly clear, imo, that we were working on bringing more players in, just couldn’t (/didn’t want to) give any indication of his degree of confidence in being able to do so.

Crazy psg turn down €220m or a player who leaves for free next summer and basically checks out on Jan 1st.

They can though, money is no object to them.

Look at them.

I think he’s been pretty clear since the start of pre season that he wasn’t expecting to do much business after Konate and he was pretty happy with the squad.

There’s always a hint of ā€œnever say neverā€ towards the end because there is always going to be a chance an opportunity presents itself or someone leaves that needs replacing. But, from early on Klopp has been pretty defiant that he didn’t see the need or expect large scale business.

Not really. Money has no meaning to them or City.

I’ve obviously taken a different impression away with me then although it’s fair to say that I definitely haven’t seen all of his pressers.
