The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

What! You have something against us buying Andy Carroll again???

IMO we could have brought back Suarez. We can pay his wage level at Atletico, and I will take a 35-year-old Suarez as a back-up over Minamino or Origi.

News that Origi might still go Turkey and it would not make the most sense to sell him now because replacements would be restricted. But what if Origi goes and we sign for just one seasonā€¦Daniel Sturridge?

Not reliable enough (that source) + who knows if we would let him go now in the first place. Maybe keep him until January. I donā€™t know what is Kloppā€™s and the staffā€™s judgement with the AFCON in mind, too. That opinion might still change until January of course.

Suarez is the third highest paid player in the world. Only Messi and Neymar ahead of him.

Rightly so IMO

Really? Does Suarez earn more than Ronaldo

Itā€™s arguable as to what constitutes ā€œsalaryā€ but it has been reported that Ronaldo took a 50% pay cut in joining Manchester United, which sees him fall from top to now being 7th and below Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Griezmann, Bale, and MbappĆ©.

Yup same list as Iā€™m looking at. Salah is currently better than all of them so God knows what his agent is asking for!

Wow really? Heā€™s on like Ā£475k a week or something.

I think Juve took a big hit on the transfer fee, Iā€™m guessing getting him off the wage bill must be a big plus for them.

Yeah, also probably the fact he is toxic as fuck. Iā€™m hoping the same shitcloud follows him.

Weā€™re obviously keeping him so we can include him on the Haaland deal in January.

I can see Suarez coming back to Liverpool just to out Ronaldo CR7.

Apparently Unitedā€™s transfer fee for Ronaldo was what Juventus still had to pay Real Madrid for him (roughly around Ā£20mill).

Those two will do me

Your right, the status quo may prevail. I just donā€™t understand why players arenā€™t seeing astronomical transfer fees and thinking; ā€˜hang-on that money should me coming to meā€™. I know wages are already very high, but typically they are still ~25% of the transfer fee over the course of a contract (source: the top of my head).

Some players, itā€™s probably mostly agents thinking that.

I think it is driven by timing, security and need. No guarantee you will get significantly more money from moving on a free, or the clubs you would like to join come in for you - look at Gini this summer.

A career isnā€™t that long for a lot of players, and making a move mid contract may make more sense than waiting a couple more years for the contract to end when the better opportunities may no longer be available to you.
