Alex Teixiera was a mess because of the selling club.

VVD was a mess because of us. Only one dragging on for ages where we didn’t pull out from my very limited recall (i’m sure someone will prove me wrong).

Sounds like the club is putting effort into showing Fulham are dicking around esp. after the reports of an agreed fee yesterday.

So VvD then, who we did actually end up signing? Any other examples in the last 6 years?

The only one that springs to mind is Ben Chilwell. Seemed to go on for ages. Can’t remember what year it was though.

I recall Chamberlain being quite protracted? Keita certainly went on a bit.

Don’t like the noise about the club continuing its efforts to sign Carvalho. That’s already way more real-time reporting than we’re used to and opens up the prospect of us knowingly pursuing a target that we don’t end up landing.

When was the last time that happened and not because we pulled out?

I think it’s harder to keep everything out of papers when dealing with another English side, especially on deadline day. Agents will be talking to any and everyone, and presumably have a line to journalists.

Don’t see an issue in any of it really. Maybe it’s already agreed but Fulham want the optics of having made it hard fought. Maybe we’re hoping they will blink first on a price.

No way to know. But either way the noise isn’t coming from the club, it’s coming from the media who know this is going to be their biggest source of traffic over the next few hours.

Has it even been 48 hours since this was leaked? This might sound protracted, but with the exception of Jota and Fabinho, it seems like most of our deals had at least that 48 hours from the moment that a reliable journo leaked that there was a significant possibility of a deal to an actual announcement of one.

I’m not concerned about this one. Hes a nice low risk option if we can get him, but won’t be the end of the world if it doesn’t happen. It’s not as if its a big money signing on the line. The fact he wants Liverpool is what matters, and if anything, getting him for the price we want to pay still shows us as strong. Don’t and we might get him anyway in the summer.
