My fanciful machinations didn’t extend that far!
But obviously, like all reds, if Haaland wants to come here, I would be delighted. Even more so if he kicked into touch some of the greedy hangers on that are lurking.

No, he really was talked about in that way - it was somewhat bit of a surprise to see him join leicester but that may have been because he had stalled at his earlier club?

Yeah, that’s right. He went to Monaco from Anderlecht as a teenager (Monaco had just won the league), struggled, got loaned to Leicester and they bought him because he was so good in that first loan spell.
He was playing in the Champions League for Anderlecht when he was 16. He’d made over 180 appearances for Anderlecht before he was 19.
And goal had him as their number one wonderkid in 2016, so there.

Tielmans strikes me as someone who will do well when team is doing well and is a bit anonymous when team is struggling. Not sure I’d want him for any sizeable fee. If he wasn’t super expensive he’d probably do ok. Watching him, I always think he could do with a bit more pace.

The interesting bit with him is that he played a lot as the right sided central midfielder at Leicester, regardless of their midfield structure, since Brendao can flip formations. We’ll see if he’s someone who we’d be interested in. There was mention of Tchouameni in last days also, as sort of our CM options for next summer.

I’m comfortable whichever midfielder we bring in because I have faith that we will have done as much research as possible to ensure it’s the right player.
That still doesn’t guarantee anything, but if we do go for Tielemans it means he ticks all the right boxes.
I did read that we have been monitoring Fabio Vieria for a long while now, but I would be surprised if he was our main CM target for the summer.
Yeah probably too early for him yet, but we know that Porto have a freshly installed Ward Phone they can pick up if anyone else comes sniffing around for him.

Monaco had just won the league with 95 points and got to the CL semis, beating City on the way. Granted, they sold some of their best players that summer, but it was a big move for him.

He’s already at and consistently delivering season after season at a higher level than Tielemans has got to yet. Illok just doesn’t really see value in younger prospects so his views are argued to support that pre-set opinion.
Don’t like the noise about the club continuing its efforts to sign Carvalho. That’s already way more real-time reporting than we’re used to and opens up the prospect of us knowingly pursuing a target that we don’t end up landing.
When was the last time that happened and not because we pulled out?

Fekir dragged on, but the was the player not the selling club causing issues.
Alex Teixiera was a mess because of the selling club.
VVD was a mess because of us. Only one dragging on for ages where we didn’t pull out from my very limited recall (i’m sure someone will prove me wrong).
Sounds like the club is putting effort into showing Fulham are dicking around esp. after the reports of an agreed fee yesterday.
