He’s a good young talent who I like a lot but definitely not to replace Mo. He’s absolutely miles away from Salah’s level and it’s far too much pressure for a kid.
Liverpool and Arsenal are at very different levels. At Arsenal he should be one of their main men. Here, a player like Saka should be 5th or 6th choice at best (though with Gordon and hopefully Carvalho, no need for a player like Saka).
Probably nothing in it but we could do a lot worse. One of those players that always stood out when we played Napoli. Can’t confess to watching him much since, but very impressive back then.
Disagree with most of the negative statements regarding Saka. I agree he appears to have a low pain threshold and falling to the floor quite easily but he is an obvious talent, Completely different to Walcott, Townsend, Lennon who based their game on pure speed, and little game awareness/knowledge.
Most of the ‘next big things’ have a big impact over the first season and a half, then have a period of under performing, where the usual youthful naivety and confidence is replaced by over thinking things, questioning their ability. This is where a good manager, back room staff, senior players make the difference and also the situation of the team.
In my opinion one of the reasons Arsenal are so hit and miss is because of the lack of leadership. When they play well it is usually down to youthful exuberance and not being down to a controlled, experienced performance.
I am not suggesting we sign Saka, but I would not be opposed to it. Under the management of Klopp/staff and the stable, respected environment of the squad I could see Saka becoming a very, very good player.
Really 5th 6th choice your rating him on par with Origi and Taki and comparing him with a child with a couple of senior appearances and a player from the championship.
I get Arsenal aren’t world beaters but think your massively under rating his ability tbh.
I could be proven wrong obviously but I really hope we don’t sign Saka. He is really overrated and even mentioning him in the same sentence as Salah borders on heresy.
Was Jota better than any of our front 3 when he signed?
Think his form this season is easily on par or better than Mane but again I’m talking about potential replacements should Mo leave the club not as an addition to our existing front 4 options.
Sterling scored 7 and assisted 8 goals in the 14/15 season from 35 games
Saka has 6 and 4 after 21 games
Obviously more than just stats to a player but doesnt really show a player being significantly out performed and Sterling often played up top for us that season where Saka plays from wide.
Gavi refusing extension at Barca. Wants similar deal to Fatsi and Pedri (6M Euro per year) but Barca offering less. That works out to a bit over £5M or 260K per week. Very good talent, but at such a young age that is fucking ridiculous
Seems to be a regular moving towards guaranteed starter for Barca and already a Spanish international at 17, but 260K per week for Fatsi and Pedri already confirmed shows Barca are still fucking deluded and have no clue what they are doing.
I was initailly thinking fuck yeah, wouldn’t mind if we can nip in and steal him, but not for that sort of money - no fucking chance
You said if Mo goes, (and you hope he doesn’t) that Saka is the one you would want replacing him.
That’s mentioning him in the same sentence.
He might have more goals than a lot of players but he isn’t Liverpool quality in my opinion.
Its not about comparison its about whether any potential signing is actually good enough.
The problem is that would put him straight in as one of our highest earners, and at 17 would leave no room for future extensions. If he insists on being a mrcenary/greedy cunt, then let him go fuck over someone elses wage structure.
