The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

So even the BBC have a “rubbish rumours” section.

Looks like everyone has it these days.

You don’t get clicks for nothing…

Well they were pushing football insider on it last week, it’s not long til Indy Kalia features.

A year or so ago I’d be concerned but financially if it helps rebuild it’s got to be thought about.

Though the way the word it it makes out he is absolved blame when to be honest he is another cog that isn’t working.

Fichajes.net also said Fabinho is rated at £60mil! So I’m guessing they aren’t very reliable

Mo still has miles left in his legs and lots of goals. With that said, I would sell him if a decent offer came in.

He is past his best and it is only going to go one way. I’m not overdoing it and saying he is crap, as that is far from true. But he has lost a yard of pace. It is rare to see him run away from defenders now. He has also lost some strength. The amount of tussles he goes into, where he loses the ball, is concerning. The goals aren’t flowing for him either, although he is still our best goalscorer. I know the whole team has issues, so it is tough for anyone to shine at their best right now. Still, peak Mo would have won the game for us at Palace from the looks at goal he got, even if there weren’t many big chances.

If an offer comes in that enables us to get a good player for his position, only younger, I would do it. A new side is being built, and while Mo is still a very good player, the next great team is going to emerge without him.

Wishful thinking by someone? Luis Díaz part-ex for Rafael Leão:

The ‘Reds’ could try to snatch Leao from Milan by inserting in the deal what would be the natural heir of the Portuguese in Pioli’s eleven: Luis Diaz . Valued at around 80 million, the Colombian jewel would be the partial counterpart, followed by a rich cash adjustment , to meet Maldini’s request. However, Milan’s position is clear. The Rossoneri would prefer a cash-only proposal, close to 120-150 million. A constantly evolving scenario, therefore, for the Milan market: with Leao who could kick off the waltz of the forwards.

Hhahah.

Fuck off CalcioMercrapo
Go away Maldini
Do one Milan

What planet do some live on to think we’d entertain offering Diaz (who’s arguably a better player) + cash for Leao?

Yes, do one Milan!

At some point we have to think about the blend we have up front though. We have too many who seem to do their best work playing off the left. So far, with injuries and bedding in, it hasn’t been an issue.

It will be interesting to see how it all evolves moving forward.

You believe this is anything beyond the fantasies of a failed fiction writer?

Course not, I still like to call things out for being complete drivel though even if it’s probably not worthy of doing so.

And the 2023 TAN Irony Award goes to…

More fantasy stuff from Italy:

Thiago to Milan, Liverpool after Nicolò Barella.

I actually wouldn’t be too surprised if Thiago leaves in the summer. The rest of it looks like names out of a hat.

What a rubbish rumour (even for unreliable standards), that doesn’t make sense at all from Inter’s perspective. Why the hell would Inter want to replace Barella (one of their key players at 26) with Thiago, when they have people like Calhanoglu (29) and Mkhitaryan (34) starting in midfield, plus still Brozovic (30) on the books.

Whilst I get it’s the Italian media I’d love us to offer £60mil rated Fabinho for Barella

Most reports say Inter need to raise £50mil by June, and then if they don’t get CL then they will need to sell again. What other sellable assets do you see?

Bastoni, Dumfries (I think there were actually reliable rumours on him), Barella, Brozovic (even if he’s 30), Lautaro…

I’m not getting into Inter’s problems. But I don’t see us bringing Barella this summer and I certainly don’t see Inter looking at Thiago and thinking “let’s do a deal with Liverpool”.

Barella is a very good player. I would be happy with him here to replace one of our aging midfielders. We need more than that, but he’s a good player.

I have a slight hesitation, due to previous Italians not settling and doing as well in the Prem as expected. If we signed Barella, hopefully he puts that misgiving to bed.

Interestingly though, the Athletic piece from a few months ago I have now referenced enough to even consider myself a bore, identified Barella as one of the few players in europe with similar statistical characteristics as gini had when he played here.

How come?

I really like Barella, he’s a better player than Gini, offers more going forward I think.

But I don’t see it happening and even less so Inter going for Thiago, or looking at Liverpool having Thiago as an advantage to do business over another club looking at Barella.
