The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

I would have been happy to bring back Firmino has a squad option. You can do far worse than have a player of his skill, experience, and quality as a sixth choice forward.

But I understand his motivations to head elsewhere, and I’ll be nothing but appreciative for his tenure here. He is a club legend who helped make everything work for Klopp tactically. The pivot between Mo and Mane and the lead in the press. At his peak, the best false 9 in the world. Always a joy to watch. A consummate professional on and off of the pitch.

Best of luck, Bobby.

Hmm interesting, from a transfer request last week of January to signing new deal 5 weeks later.

I don’t see anything untoward in Klopp wanting Firmino to stay. I’m sure he would have told him the terms, which likely would have included less playing time as he is down the pecking order now. In turn, Bobby says thanks but no thanks, and he will try another gig before he hangs up his boots.

It will come to an amicable and professional conclusion, with honor intact all round.

The Caicedo news is interesting. I would imagine he has a release clause inserted into the new deal, and that he is on much better terms. Perhaps he has agreed to give them at least one more season after this, before the clause is triggered. Just speculating, but there’s no way he boxes himself in, as his star rises.

Doesn’t have to mean much, could be an activation or simply a different deal, this time with a clause involved. Would still expect clubs to try and lure him out of Brighton in the next following windows, if he continues to show quality and potential on the pitch.

This is a JOKE right?

I believe we would treat it as such, yes.

All that does is cement/raise the current asking price

I think it’s more a case of simply justifying it actually. They were already asking (reportedly) for £100m , to which everybody fell about laughing. This gives them a pretext now for that ridiculous valuation.

Well put, absolute legend one of the most skilful players i’ve had the pleasure of watching each week.

I could see him doing very well in Spain or Italy.

This was inevitable really Bobby doesn’t deserve to be a 4th/5th choice player. He’ll start at alot of other clubs but we have to go all in on the rebuild now and we’ve spent alot up top the last few windows and we need to make that work.

If we can add some quality in midfield and defence we can be back amongst it next season. Be amazing if we can nick a 4th place finish will help with targets.

Hang on…how did we know a young up and coming centre back like Ibou is injury prone?

Because everybody becomes injury prone when they sign for us.

D’uh.

It’s VERY difficult to find players like Suarez, Salah, Mané, Gini, VVD. Quality players AND almost never injured unless a shithead from Everton decides to assault them.

Yeah good point actually and fair play Brighton for standing firm like they did whilst managing to change someone’s mind from wanting out to signing a new deal.

Up and coming sure but he had 3/4 seasons there already, a players injury history is a key figure when determining who you opt to sign. We definitely would’ve done our homework on that before we signed him and saw he missed almost an entire season as well as missing a fair chunk of the season before we signed him.

Daniel Sturridge? Big deal.

Edit: Nah I’m joking Studge, love love

Don’t you do that to me, @redfanman, I’m still haunted by the memories of what happened the last time we won 7:0 in league!

Just for reference, either the BBC’s gossip page’s staff are on strike or they’re changing it. Not been updated at the same time or as comprehensive as usual of late.

Rumour doing the rounds that we want Frimpong for RB and TAA will be looked at moving into the midfield more regularly next season
