The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

6 is ideal (but not often), 5 is still very good, but 4… no. Let’s not go too far.

I hope we don’t have to touch the attack this summer (only in training) and we have all 5 for next season.

Only Salah is still deep down our automatic starter in attack. The other 4 for 2 positions, I don’t care which names come through as winners in their battle for game time.

I just want the best combination for us. It’s easy to look now at Jota and think he’s the “weakest link” or something, Liverpool might sell, etc.

I suspect this new attack still isn’t completed and there could be more changes before it’s more settled.

Prior to this season, it being Jota’s last with us was my controversial shout for the season. He’s done well, his face fits, but there is always this nagging feeling that we’re a better side when someone else plays. Ironically, not playing much this season because of injury makes that feel less likely

Yes, i dont think we would be looking to move him on neccessarily but if he wants to move on then for the right price i can see the club being more at ease in facilitating it.

We just keep selling though only reason he goes is if we end up out of Europe or in the conference one. Not all that forward line stays fit.

People seem to want the smallest squad possible and then moan when we see injuries.

I’m calling it. I can see Jota leaving this summer. Why? No idea at all, just a hunch based on fuck all.

I don’t think anyone we think has a future will be sold.

Firmino is one player less in the middle so effectively we’d be losing two.

I do expect we are going to start shaping up more as a 4-2-1-3 or a 4-2-3-1

That requires the numbers we have currently and we have far more pressing areas to cover, sell Jota you’ll probably have to spend his fee pretty much on a replacement.

Diogo is too good. He’s a class act guys. Going nowhere.

I’d be annoyed if Jota went and we didn’t replace him. That said, I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

Fucking overpaid shit. All the money they get and they could only get 9 players on the shopping list.

For Jota to leave, it has to take a 70mil bid and above for it to make any sense at this point. He did very well in past seasons and if his injury comeback is any indication, it shows a player getting in the groove relatively fast and eager to compete for his place.

He is, frustrating season for him doesn’t really change that. Touch wood he can stay injury free next season because we’re gonna need him, dont see him as being a regular but he’s next in line to replace either of the front 3 if one gets injured or starts to drop off for a period.

I like Jota, but if big money comes in for him and helps fund reinforcements at other positions i won’t be devastated. He’s probably 5th choice for me, assuming Diaz can recapture form after injury (maybe a big if- hopefully we know before end of season).

We have the young Scottish lad who looks like he will be pulling up trees by the roots soon, and Carvalho hasn’t had much of a kick. Nowhere near Jota’s level yet, but we have strength and depth in front 3, might need to sacrifice one of them if we’re truly going big this summer in midfield and defense.

Nobody knows how much we’ll have to spend and who we’ll be after. Lots talk as if they’ve been in the boardroom meetings.

Or for the two 30 minute breaks.

Salah, Nunez, Gakpo, Diaz, Jota and the likes of Carvalho and Elliott both moving between midfield and attacking roles. Some room left for Doak, Gordon or Kone-Doherty to get a few games. I’d be surprised if our forward options look any different than that to start next season.

Selling Jota would just mean he would need to be replaced… with Firmino, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain and possibly Milner all already on the way out I doubt we would want to add more to that list.

It would make no sense for us to actively try to sell Jota, given how good he is (my how some of you forget after an injury-plagued campaign). It would take him really really wanting to leave and LFC not being able to convince him to stay for that to happen. Jota to NCU? If it was his choice, why would he make that move?

This summer of all summers we need to keep as many players of our current campaign together knowing there will be a fair few leaving after their contract runs out. Sure, there might be one player that might surprise us with their departure simply based on Klopp no longer seeing them in our plans, but it is not Jota.

Money.

Agree, don’t really see him being the right type of player for us at all. Only way I could envisage it happening is if the budget can’t stretch far enough to replace all those leaving.

Say Bellingham takes up a fair whack of what we’re going to spend. If you then get N’Dicka on a free we potentially can throw a bit more at another big midfield signing. But, if we spend a fortune on Gvardiol then maybe we see Tielemans as a relatively cheap option to bolster the midfield ranks, even if it’s just more of a short term squad option to replace Keita/Ox’s minutes.

He’s not an ideal fit for us for sure but he’s still a decent player and if we have to be prudent somewhere in order to afford someone else then it’s possible we might look at that. Worst case is he’s a short term addition that we sell on for a profit after a year or two.

Still don’t see it myself but I also don’t see us spending what it would take to do Bellingham, Gvardiol and another top midfielder in one window.

I would tbh

Nope. Rather sell and replace liability Gomez. Virgil can finish his career here.
