You do get the impression that our scouting team run round Rotterdam with a butterfly net and see what they end up with.

Liverpool Sign Bent

This is why you are the poster of the year, it is your job.

Heavy lies the head that wears the crown.

If Tonali is available, we should pursue him. He would be a great addition as a CDM.

He isn’t a DM though and any requirement to hold position to sit and back up play loses a large amount of what he offers a side.

He’s not quite a Rodri or Kante - he’s not a destroyer. But I think he can hold up and dictate play from a deep lying role, ala Pirlo. Gravenberch isn’t a classic CDM, either, but he makes the position his own.

I agree that he’s probably better suited as an 8 because of his box-to-box qualities. But I think he could offer cover as a 6 as needed, which gives us versatility.

He isn’t that type of player. We need someone who could play as a holding mid, more static, not another box-to-box.

Might have to wait to see who is our head coach next season before predicting what our next midfield signing might be (if it is one this summer, which will be interesting to see).

As for Tonali, stylistically, there’s no issue at all for him to play in either Arsenal’s or Liverpool’s double-pivot structure. The rest is impossible to predict, how well he’d do, etc.

Tonali is too slow, I prefer his lightweight brother, Kiloali

Nah, I prefer their cousin Kneecappi

I rest my case. We’re completely fucked.

Not really we are if and when the likely injuries happen.

Maybe the club feels it can cope without CL for a season (which is likely but probably was anyhow with the way the team has played). Maybe it’s suggested he uses more of his squad and perhaps if we had we wouldn’t see the level of injuries we have had.

Maybe some of the youngsters we have signed are better than expected and we have at least signed Jacquet, I assume the idea was to see if he was available now but we accepted he wasn’t and we did a deal regardless.

With how little use Endo is getting elsewhere there really is no reason why he could not be expected to adequately fill in at RB.

Not sure that is how it works… not playing = adequate in a relatively unfamiliar position

It’s more likely for Endo to be found out the more he plays there than be adequate. But, hey… as a stop gap I would consider him for his defensive properties.

Endo has never let us down when he has played

We would’ve seen it more often by now.

It was not a prediction.

Yeah, I think there are good reasons why he doesn’t play more often (at least not much more often) and also at RB.

Even against Qarabag, he got easily turned inside out a few times. Some good blocks though.

I think he will rather use him at CB than RB. But obviously remains one of the RB ‘options’ in emergency.
