The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

He’s supposedly got a huge clause…something like 100m

Yeah, that might be prohibitive if Bournemoth sticks by it. But they might be persuaded to take less.

I think this just might be unlikely, but you never know …

Liverpool are looking to sign Senegal forward Iliman Ndiaye, 26, from their city rivals Everton. (Teamtalk)

Geertruida might be a useful acquisition no matter what the nationality of our head coach / manager might be.

Sunderland could face a battle to keep on-loan RB Leipzig utility player Lutsharel Geertruida, 25, at the club next term, with Liverpool, Aston Villa, Everton, Tottenham and Crystal Palace all interested in the Netherlands international. (Teamtalk)

He could do the Gomez role without injuries and probably wouldn’t be massively expensive. As you say it wouldn’t be a bad buy for us. We could even get him on loan potentially. Sure Klopp will put a word in for us. Shame it’s Teamtalk which is English for Fichajes.

Olise isn’t happening unless that supposed release clause is in fact real. That doesn’t seem to be the case, however.

Yeah, the clause is not real.

It would cost a bomb, quite possibly close to if not surpassing Neymar’s world record. And we won’t be able to?) spend that kind of money. We’d face competition. And there’s no need for him to run away from Bayern after 2 seasons.

I just don’t see how Olise to Liverpool is realistic this summer at all. Maybe in the future if some things fall into place.

I wonder if Olise would come here to play losing football under Slot.

I was all for Geertruida in January. Played RB, LB and CB so very versatile. Also thought because Slot knew him he would actually give him games and rotate.

We could offer Richard Hughes back as part payment?

I’ve noticed Geertruida a bit more since we were linked in January. It’s not always been for flattering reasons. I think squad player at Sunderland looks about his correct level at this moment.

One big problem with Geertuida is that he sucks!

It’s a long shot, but I read all the Bayern Space post, and while it was all riddles and meandering all over the place, one part did stick out. It talked about the framework of a potential Olise deal being in the vicinity of 2.5x what they paid for him at the start.

I looked it up and that was £45M, so therefore a fee in the region of £135M, IF (big if) there is any credence to the post.

In addition, I think there is some Bayern Munich interest in Cody Gakpo, and they are a team who can pay his wages, too.

So, since it is the unreliable thread, perhaps adding Gakpo brings that £135M down to a more manageable £85M or so? Especially as we have other business to do.

The shambles we are in at the moment makes me wonder why Olise would even be interested, but perhaps he wants to get back to the Prem? Only 2-3 teams could even think about a deal, but we are one of them. He has tasted Anfield. He knows his career is short, and he wants some of that. He is open to linking up with fellow countrymen Ekitike and Jacquet, and for all we know, Alonso has been in his ear casting his vision for next season and beyond?

Unlikely, I know, but it says unreliable on the thread, so I am squinting a bit to see if I can make a case.

What I will say it’s odd how Bayern Munich acted on it after that post.

£50m for Gakpo? :eyes:

imagine the average BM fan turning up to game 1 next season… Gakpo instead of Olise…

we’d look like used car salesmen…

more likely theyd have eyes for Florian or Hugo…

It will be undisclosed!

I don’t think the Olise rumours are that far fetched at all. Wirtz and Isak showed us anything is possible in the transfer market.

Anything’s possible when you’re champions, not so much in Europa League.

We’ve got to fix the defence too and we definitely can’t afford to repeat last years spending, especially with how ineffective Isak has been. Personally I think Olise isn’t happening. He’d probably need to go on strike and tell the lederhosen pricks that he’s only coming here for a maximum fee similar to Diaz.

And why would he do that, Bayern aren’t exactly Leverkusen or Newcastle. He’s already competing for major trophies, and we’re garbage at the moment.
