The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

No. Its very different story

Plenty is possible, but some really is impossible.

I’m not saying Olise is impossible, but very, very unlikely and unrealistic I’d say. This summer at least, what happens next, who knows.

Do we want another "big name’ striker or someone like Mo…who joined us as a write-off from Chelsea, Roma…and we wondered why…well we certainly found out why…I understand this is a contradictory question…but big name…or someone we mould into a big name…

Spring is upon us and the rumours are in bloom. Although much like the cherry blossom here, these rumours will soon be blown away. Especially the Suarez rumour. We sell 28 year old Colombians, we don’t buy them.

I think I speak for the majority on here when I say that your forays into poetic language are most welcome LA. They add colour to posts which might otherwise be quite dull. I strongly encourage you to continue on this path. It will add to entertainment on this site, and increase your, already substantial, popularity.

Honestly, I didn’t pay the POTY to say those things.

Why not everybody else does and he is cheap!

Some players go a step back before going forward again. Back to your question, I’d say it will probably be more the latter. It’s not like we usually go for big names, proven at the top level, winners or serial winners and still in their prime. But we’ll see what we decide to do in his position.

Latest from BBC gossip, really wish they would group rumours together.

Today’s BBC gossip. Some may be appalled at the thought of selling Ekitike, and yes it is from Teamtalk so it’s bollocks. But if RM actually are interested and are willing to pay at least 90 million, then maybe flipping Hugo would not be such a bad idea as we would then have a more balanced forward line, particularly if we go with 4-2-3-1 next season with Isak as the one.

Liverpool are keen on Juventus’ 23-year-old Portugal winger Francisco Conceicao as a replacement for Mohamed Salah when the 33-year-old Egypt forward leaves at the end of the season. (Gazzetta - in Italian)

France striker Hugo Ekitike has climbed sharply up Real Madrid’s wishlist following the 23-year-old’s impressive debut season at Liverpool. (Teamtalk)

Wouldn’t want to bet everything on Isak staying fit.
Sure everyone will have noticed Hugo’s impressive form, but we’d want at least another season out of him.

We paid Ā£70m rising to Ā£80m for him. If we really wanted to ā€˜flip’ him to reinvest elsewhere, I’d expect a profit much higher than what RM paid us to get Trent a month early.

I’d rather sell an overrated Isak than Hugo.

I thought I had replied to you earlier. Turns out I hadn’t. So this is the reply that I didn’t send earlier!

Yes, good point but I think both players will feel that they should be first choice CF. Eventually something will have to give. If, and that’s a big if, a money-bags club were to make a good offer for one of them then it might be a good idea to to accept the offer.

Many would say that we could rotate Isak and Ekitike, but I doubt if either player would be happy with that. I’m sure nothing will happen this summer, but it might do next year. Maybe by then Danns and/or Wright will have shown themselves to be capable back-ups

That’s all for further down the line.

I’d be happy if the two create a ā€œHaalandā€ vs ā€œAlvarezā€ situation, because that will mean both are doing pretty well, although it’s also clear who is first choice.

It might be more difficult to get a big money offer (the one City got for Alvarez) for Isak (if he turns out to be ā€œAlvarezā€) though, due to his age, he will be 27 at the start of next season.

Let’s see what they can do together, although I have my doubts and there is currently no formation that gives answers to all the questions. Have to be more patient to find out.

Big clubs like Real liking Ekitike is no breaking news, because obviously we were one who went big for him last summer from a place like Frankfurt. But Real still have Vini (although he has a year left) and Mbappe, so it depends if there will be a major change in attack.

Let’s see, what damage or minimum acceptable we end the season with. But I would guess that Barca would not have the money to get Isak out of Liverpool so early (and why would we do it before first getting him up to the shape needed to prove himself) and Real have bigger needs than Ekitike. I think they might go for a striker, but a more cheaper/backup one, like Morata or Joselu were.

Hugo started against Brazil alongside MBappe, Dembele and Olise. I’m sure we can fit him and Isak together!

That front line depth for France is scary.

They have konate in the back to compensate for any advantage they may have.

I’m probably in the minority, but I would take Anthony Gordon. Homegrown. Good return this season. Stronger than he looks. PL proven. Little shithouse. The only thing he hates more than us is the fact he doesn’t play for us. I think he’d run through brick walls for Liverpool, and we need tenacious players like that badly right now.
