The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Will Schlotterbeck be interested in a non-CL team?
Probably not.

Schlotterbeck just signed his contract extension. Doubt the release clause is for this summer.

Apparently it is, if you want to believe ā€˜Sport Bild’, but only until July 19th and only for the three specific clubs. Suspiciously specific, if all of that were true…

It wouldn’t surprise me if it actually is available for some clubs (that might not be only Real and Liverpool, mind). It could be foreign clubs that are in the CL. The expiry date is also very normal, as it gives the selling club some security and room for planning after.

The report said ony three specfific clubs, one interestingly not ā€˜leaked’. That’s what I reacted to. Yes, could very be much be true.

I watched Man U at the Weeknd on TV - and became a Leeds fan for the day! It made me think of all the payers we have been linked to that caused a huge lather and wailing when we did not sign them. They were ā€œthe final pieceā€ etc etc.

But they have turned out to be anything but and a bit crap… so be careful what we wish for!

I gave you Ugarte and Yoro!

I agree on Ugarte, was never a big fan of him anyway, not that I knew a lot about him. But I quickly saw he’s too limited on the ball for a side like us, that wants to compete and win on the biggest stages. That’s the sort of player some would bring today, a ā€œproper DMā€, but that’s exactly the sort of danger a player like that can have in his package.

Still time for Yoro to become good though.

I went off Yoro (and I suspect LFC did too) when noises came out of his camp that he wanted assurances of first team football. I’m not interested in players like that when they are 27, never mind 17.

It’s not special or necessarily problematic. It’s a general term, but in details can be different. A few players probably saw what we have starting at CB and thought there’s a better chance to play and prove themselves elsewhere. It was a factor for some of our players leaving, too. I think we were also unwilling to go as high as United were prepared to pay? Who knows.

I think that is more a reflection of fans having a bad idea about what a team is missing and how to fix it. Invariably a team that is conceding goals leads to calls for any semi mobile clogger to come in as a DM. That is all Ugarte ever was and was shown even at PSG to be a black hole in possession and not even particularly good at the thing he was supposed to be good at. But the attraction of a South America enforcer in midfield to fix perceived defensive frailties is a compelling story even when its clear that the player barely qualifies as a footballer

I’ve seen Arsenal linked with Alvarez. If we make it to the CL places this season, i wonder if he would still be on our shortlist?

Barca as well. Obviously they are still financially restricted, but they always seem to find a way to get these moves done.

I see almost zero chance in us going for a profile like Alvarez while having Ekitike and Isak, even with the former injured.

Where are they now with selling their TV rights? 2076?

Kroupi? Mateta? Someone on loan?

We need someone who can operate out wide but also in the middle like Diaz did.

He would definitely help. The caveat is that Slot HAS to go. There’s no way he’s coming back to play for Slot. That bridge has been burned.

I wish the bridge with Nunez to remain unavailable.

We can love each other at a distance and cherish some nice memories we had.

Please, not more than that, it was enough.
