I think we’ll be happy to let this one go to Juve.
Liverpool have identified France international Randal Kolo Muani, 27, as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah but face competition from Juventus for the Paris St-Germain forward. (Gazzetta dello Sport - in Italian)
Actually, I think it was James Ducker who published this story yesterday - allegedly, Tchouameni and Anderson are their preferred targets for that no. 6 role. That said, Man United-related journos have been saying that for a while, Ducker only said it with more conviction.
It’s funny when some get surprised or worked up in this thread and forget where we are: in the unreliable thread.
Kolo Muani seemed like an interesting potential to me years ago, but that’s right, he has stagnated since then and hasn’t really developed or showed enough consistency. He’s also an unusual package, might be best suited for a side that plays two up top.
Had a quality spell at Juventus last season, so maybe going back to Italy (or France, but not at PSG) would be best for him.
And I don’t see Tchouameni going anywhere, I mean after a further establishing season he’s had, why the hell would he leave Real to go to United or anywhere for that matter?
Because Real’s midfield is a mess, has been for a few seasons, and none of the moves they made in the past 4 years or so has done anything to help them actually replace the stars that need replacing. At some point they have to concede that and when they do it likely means some players leaving to make room for new players
It’s not a mess, but it needs certain aspects they lost with Modric and Kroos leaving, but especially Kroos. Some movement might have to take place, though also coaching, but Tchouameni is not one I expect to leave. I read a lot of criticism on Real’s midfielders. They are all high quality players, just stylistically a bit too similar.
Yes, which is why it is a mess. It is why the crowing that was done on here by so many over how good their midfield rebuild had been was so misguided. They bought good players. They did not do so with any thought of how they would play together, compliment each other, replace the qualities of the players they were supposed to replace, or create a coherent unit. And that has been the case now for probably 3 seasons, coinciding with the first 2 year span without a trophy for nearyl 20 years
It’s all relative isn’t it. For Madrid, zero major trophies (or any trophies) is indeed a mess. Plus there’s a really toxic culture developing there. Might not be a bad idea to shake that up.
