The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

If they are, it’s not only to compete with Diaz (who is also 4 years older), because Gordon proved he can play in multiple positions.

At Bayern, he could compete (or at least cover) for all of their 4 offensive positions. 3 for sure.

They’ve been doing something unusual this season with Gnabry as a #10 or second striker. And Jackson will probably not be kept.

Mane counts as homegrown and looks like a pretty decent prospect in positions where we need strengthening - putting two and two together…

And their must be loads of shirts with Mane already printed on the back. No brainer

Yes that’s mainly the one player that will improve our squad but I would not mind Joao Gomes.

I think we’ll be happy to let this one go to Juve.

Liverpool have identified France international Randal Kolo Muani, 27, as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah but face competition from Juventus for the Paris St-Germain forward. (Gazzetta dello Sport - in Italian)

Gotta be a joke he looks crap!

Yup. PSG were happy to loan him out to Spurs where he is busy doing fuck-all to help them in their relegation fight.
Massive swerve.

I’m surprised to learn he’s 27. Somebody who’s really failed to deliver on early potential.

We have been linked in the past to Tchouameni - should we be again?

No he is not going anywhere as his agent has done this before to get another contract from Real.

Actually, I think it was James Ducker who published this story yesterday - allegedly, Tchouameni and Anderson are their preferred targets for that no. 6 role. That said, Man United-related journos have been saying that for a while, Ducker only said it with more conviction.

It’s funny when some get surprised or worked up in this thread and forget where we are: in the unreliable thread.

:joy:

Kolo Muani seemed like an interesting potential to me years ago, but that’s right, he has stagnated since then and hasn’t really developed or showed enough consistency. He’s also an unusual package, might be best suited for a side that plays two up top.

Had a quality spell at Juventus last season, so maybe going back to Italy (or France, but not at PSG) would be best for him.

And I don’t see Tchouameni going anywhere, I mean after a further establishing season he’s had, why the hell would he leave Real to go to United or anywhere for that matter?

Because Real’s midfield is a mess, has been for a few seasons, and none of the moves they made in the past 4 years or so has done anything to help them actually replace the stars that need replacing. At some point they have to concede that and when they do it likely means some players leaving to make room for new players

It’s not a mess, but it needs certain aspects they lost with Modric and Kroos leaving, but especially Kroos. Some movement might have to take place, though also coaching, but Tchouameni is not one I expect to leave. I read a lot of criticism on Real’s midfielders. They are all high quality players, just stylistically a bit too similar.

From our perspective, neither Macca nor Dominic fit their need for either a Modric or Kroos replacement.

Who knows, maybe with Aurelien and Valverde next to him Macca can shine again. And we could cash in and get someone a bit more robust and dynamic.

I know we’d be losing a lot of passing ability but the current version of Macca is giving us next to nothing.

And we could change our setup to get the ball to Flo quicker.

Yes, which is why it is a mess. It is why the crowing that was done on here by so many over how good their midfield rebuild had been was so misguided. They bought good players. They did not do so with any thought of how they would play together, compliment each other, replace the qualities of the players they were supposed to replace, or create a coherent unit. And that has been the case now for probably 3 seasons, coinciding with the first 2 year span without a trophy for nearyl 20 years

Now where have I seen that play out recently…

James Wathland (:person_shrugging:) said a few days ago that we had started talks with Palace over Adam Wharton.

Okay, you call it a mess.

For me, it’s not a mess. I’ve seen other, much worse situations that I would call a mess.

It’s all relative isn’t it. For Madrid, zero major trophies (or any trophies) is indeed a mess. Plus there’s a really toxic culture developing there. Might not be a bad idea to shake that up.
