The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Another similarity - Xabi asked the board to sign Zubimendi and ended up with 2 fullbacks, a CB and a forward instead

Matteo Moretto reporting that Alisson and Juve have reached a verbal agreement

He’s going to play another five years over there and not miss a single game through injury, isn’t he?

I thought Macca an Flo would gel really well from a passing point of view, but haven’t seen much interplay between them.

Rumour mill has Ali to Juventus in the Summer…someone shit stirring…

I think it is more likely to be Camavinga leaving.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Newcastle have expressed an interest in signing Manchester City and England goalkeeper James Trafford, 23. (Goal)

Sounds like they have just thrown a load of teams on this for clicks. If Alisson is going then Trafford could make sense as a number 2 (potential challenge) for Marna but then he’s that currently that.

Would make more sense for Chelsea or Villa as you assume Martinez may leave. Spurs might be an option but their goalie is decent and would only be an issue if they went down.

Highly doubt Trafford would go somewhere where there’s ā€œdangerā€ of this season just repeating itself. Still got 14 games for City in all competitions so far and played a final for a trophy. Of course though, I’m not comparing current Mamardashvili to Alisson or Donnarumma. I would prefer Alisson to say. If he’s sold this summer, it wouldn’t surprise me if we do go for another new goalkeeper. Even if I’d rather we don’t have to do that…

Isn’t that part of why Rafa left Valencia? He said something to the effect of I asked for a lamp and they gave me a table.

Yea Alisson still has plenty to offer and when playing, still the best keeper in the PL. He might have other reasons if he ever want to leave. Could be an era around him ending and it would only now be him and VVD left so he might also want to call time. Italy is his first overseas club country but he had a short time there so maybe he and family want to move there before retires back to Brazil? Many possibilities but hope he stays.

I thought that comment was about Parry, possibly over his failure to sign Barry?

Does anyone know where the reports linking Jones to Villa originate from? After Elliott fiasco, one would think the two clubs won’t be dealing with each other soon.

As for Alisson to Juventus, it could make sense, I guess. I love him to bits but he’s been physically unreliable for quite some time now. Also, according to some statistical analysis that Andrew Beasley posted on Twitter a few weeks ago, his save statistics are dropping notably, so that might be the driver behind any prospective move.

No, it is from Valencia.

Could that be down to teams creating better quality opportunities against us this season?

More likely linked to less pressing from the outfield players which then allows opposition teams more shots at our goals

Alisson at this point is still miles ahead of Marma. Selling Alisson for Marma is going to really haunt us…

I’d say they’re at a similar level when it comes to shot stopping. My issue is that Mama is nowhere near the same level when it comes to rushing and playing with his feet.

I hope we keep Alisson for another season, but his wishes will also be factored into it. Maybe he wants to enjoy another couple of years in Italy with his family, before presumably returning to Brazil to wind down his career and/or retire?

He has been the best in the world for many of the seasons we have had him. He is past that at this stage, but he is still an excellent goalie.

What I’m not fully sure about is how much the injuries are taking away. Sometimes it feels as though he is not fully putting his foot through it when he kicks. And the save percentage is down, but I don’t know if that is a bit of decline, or the fact that the team in front of him have lost a lot of solidity this season, so we are giving up better chances. Probably a bit of both, but I don’t know.

I’m chilled whatever happens. I think Mama is a very good goalie, and if he gets the nod as the number one we will back him and see what he can do. If Alisson stays another year that’s hardly a bad thing either.

I wonder which shitty Dutch goalkeeper we will sign if Slots gets another season and the club decides to cash in on Alisson.

I really like Jaros and hope he comes back as the number two, if Alisson leaves. Not fully sure on his current situation, I’m assuming he is out on loan gaining vital experience. I thought he looked good when he was called on to play as our third choice a while ago. He made some great saves and seemed proactive as a goalie.
