The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

The problem was Le Fee was a bit too high for his level of experience at the time

Bowen’s probably missed the train to go to a big club and be an important figure. He has, since, signed a new improved deal with West Ham that ties him until the age of 33, which probably compensated (at least financially) for him not getting what he wanted. I don’t see us going for him as a backup option at all. Wouldn’t make much sense to me. I think he goes somewhere where he will play. And that might not be necessarily the best sides in the league.

I like le Fee as a player. Feel like he can back up Wirtz and play out on the wing as necessary.

I’d first figure out what even happens with Wirtz in correlation with the rest of our main pieces before going for his backup.

Re Bowen he could do a similar job for us to what Trossard does at Arsenal. Unfashionable, but knows the league and may be ok with less minutes nowadays.

Not really an FSG signing though and I can’t really see Slot advocating for him.

Trossard is versatile, that guy can play basically all 3-4 offensive positions.

He is a good player but he is 29 and they want £43M for him.

Trossard is actually 21 but just look like he hasn’t slept for 29 years

Nah.

We need very good players to go straight into the first team for 3-5 positions at least.
Paying a sizeable fee for Bowen would be wasteful.

When he scored against us (can’t remember which game) I had a little rant and called him an ā€œundead bastard.ā€

It has sort of stuck between me and my lad. I know, I’m not a good parenting example

That is some very accurate accounting dude

If they get relegated he would definitely bite both his arms off for a little 2 year deal.

Fernandez cost €121m
Caicedo cost €116m
Lavia cost €62m

This fellas homegrown and contributed more than those 3 combined, what’s not to like?

We need to have genuine players that will push the starters for their spot in the starting 11. Since Jurgen came in, other than what was already in the squad, we’ve had Shaq, Taki, Arthur, Endo, Chiesa for this bench role and none of them have worked out in the long run. I loved Shaq really wanted him to do well but if I’m being honest he didn’t deliver enough given his obvious quality.

Only one that’s been decent is Tsimi the Greek Scouser

So if we think 29 year old Bowen can give us a good two years where we can genuinely interchange him with a starter from time to time (and I don’t trust Slot to do this) then fine.

Players injured, but would be great if we got Hayden Hackney from boro…seen them play a few times before their injury, and he is a good player imo.

I think most of this was because most of the available cash was put into the starting eleven, either through higher wages or fees and so we were picking up scraps almost, for much of the time.

Although easier said than done, I was hoping that our team’s transition as we seemed to have more cash now than we did under Jurgen, would be through signing players like Leoni, promising youngsters who could be that back up with the prospect of earning a starting place while phasing out the old guard. Supplemented by players like Quansah and Bradley coming through our youth set up and the odd experienced player.

In Arne’s first summer window, we did very little business. In his second we did a lot but now we appear to be having to fix holes in the team, not just the squad.

This is not a good look for Barcola:

I haven’t been entirely sold on him.
