Emi Martinez has been touted as a strong replacement for Alisson at Liverpool.
Alisson has been heavily linked with Juventus and former Liverpool and Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes Martinez would be a good replacement should the goalkeeper leave Anfield.
It’d be a lot cheaper to take one of the mannequins out of the club shop and play it up front.
Scoring too many goals? Sick of receiving good service? Come to LFC, we’ll put a stop to all that nonsense.
I’m not that fussed about Konate leaving as he’s been absolute dog-water this season, but clearly he’ll need to be replaced. And seeing as it’s unlikely any out of Gomez, Jacquet or Leoni will be ready to step up as undisputed first-choice, we’ll need a top-quality decently experienced player coming in.
FFS, I wouldn’t be surprised that we are going to struggle to stay in the top 8, nevermind hunting for UCL spot next season…and that’s being optimistic.
Yeah far less concerned with losing the player he has become (caveat, they are all actually much better than they showed this season) than the signal this represents of us no longer being that attractive a place to work
I hope whoever we get is better in possession than Ibou was. It’ll be hard to find someone with ball skills as well as having the physical profile of Konate. A competent football operation would have prospects in mind that can move towards swiftly.
Currently we are an incompetent goofball operation. What @Limiescouse said. It all stinks of a workplace everyone will give a wide berth to.
Another player we get no money for and more to find so we can afford to replace him. Dicking around over a couple of million for Guehi looks really shrewd now doesn’t it Richard?
I won’t shed any tears over Konate going - he is a player for whom it seems to be a coin toss whether we get his 9/10 game or his 2/10 game.
The likelihood here is that Konate and his people valued their contribution rather higher than the club did. I would expect that the two parties are miles apart on wages etc. Nothing to do with him not wanting to stay, and everything we’ve heard from him suggests he wants to stay here - but he expects to get weighed in.
It’s unfortunately more business we have to do now if true. That’s the annoying part.
Konate’s hand to leverage Van Dijk level money out of Liverpool might be stronger had he not spent large chunks of the season playing like someone who had won a competition to get a game for the reds.
