Cuddly and happy? He just told you to fuck off! Twice!
I keep thinking back to Diogo going āIBOUUUUuuuuu!!ā
Iām sure it doesnāt help that his buddy isnāt here any more but there are all these reminders.
Heās far better than decent. Hugely inconsistent but there have been elite performances for us. Heās just turned 27 so around the same age as Virg was when he joined us. If he can get some consistency with age he can be one of the best.
Now weāre losing him on a free and will need to use part of budget on a replacement when there is so much other work to do
Konate may well have deliberately kept everyone thinking he was signing to avoid any negative reaction towards him, but Trent didnāt come out early - that was part of the reason why fans were behaving that way towards him.
You are so old itās a hip friendly gesture tut tut ![]()

Well thatās shit. Wonder what heās asking for.
Makes the Guehi miss seem all the worse and puts huge pressure on Jaquet or Leoni to make an immediate impact.
I felt last season when Konate (when he was in very good form, among his best in a Liverpool shirt) gave an interview that he should be closer to Virgil in terms of earnings. Who knows what the difference is, but the main thing for us is that itās not enough for an agreement and thatās it. Plus, of course, thereās the signing on fee aspect. Weāll see where he goes.
We might sign another CB or a hybrid type who can cover CB and a full back side.
Jacobs has been fairly reliable for us over the past couple of seasons and my reading of this tweet is that getting a 4th cb in is not seen as a priority. That worked so well last season.
Letās be a bit patient and see, no journalist out there can predict all of our moves this summer.
Perhaps we (the club) canāt, either! Like we saw last summerā¦
We certainly canāt! Wonder if the club does, you would hope so but some of the odd things do make you wonder!
You maybe right they did what they do best they screwed Liverpool so many times by telling their targets to run down their contracts so that they can sign them on a free, but there is a penalty for the players involved in that if they donāt work out they are stuck as none would buy them and theyāll end up going on loan or stay sunning themselves in a Costa somewhere.
A bit OTT he is nowhere near as good as Virgil who tried to teach him as best as he could. He is big and strong but Virgil is so much more skillful and comfortable on the ball and his reading of the game is second to none and I hope they extend his contract further so that he can educate the six young CHs we have bought recently.
Maybe he registered his birth himself.

Virg is so much about being an intelligent defender, I bet he could to the job for us for three more years
Think the plan was go for a free to RM, but after the year heās had they arenāt so interested any more. I like Ibou, but his form first half of the season was terrible, so much so he was actively targeted by opposition teams. He improved from awful for the second half of the season but still inconsistent.
I can see why there is reluctance to offer a bigger contract that could prove more costly in the long run. Given the season weāve just had it is the wrong time for that for the vast majority of the squad. Presumably weāll be keeping Gomez at least for his final year too?
ānegotiations began in november 2023ā
I know there are lots of reasons/excuse re changes during that time but fucking hell thats ridiculous.
Thatās just responsible, around half a year before he entered the last 2 years of his deal.
Doesnāt necessarily mean they actively negotiated all the time since then, because obviously many things changed.
But as for first contact? Yeah, thatās not surprising.
I think negotiations could have concluded a tad more quickly. For instance, a year ago. Selling him at the start of last summer would have ensured we could have tipped the extra 5m for Guehi which could also have meant Arsenal didnāt get Eze.
And then we would still need a CBā¦
