The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Obviously no chance of Rio leaving but feels like this could be the start of a decade of rumours

BBC have gone all in with a rumour that’s not even reached the tapping up of the player yet.

Did the Slot news really leave its mark on Ornstein and others that they push this trash.

Inclined to be a bit more cautious than some.
If Iraola likes Darwin he presumably sees something he can use, and given slot didn’t set the world on fire, it seems ,with his use of players, why not?

He had Evanilson at Bournemouth who wasn’t prolific but was a lot better in possession and worked hard off the ball occupying defenders, with Darwin defence’s just have to hold a line and wait for him to be offside

Darwin never seemed to have the footballing brain to fill that role. Can be hard to judge/unfair from the outside though so was he to come back Id try to refrain from incredulity and see how Andoni gets him playing

PSG’s structure this season (or recently, as it took them a while to get their best players back available) was also something between a 4 and 3 at the back. Bayern away was very interesting how they set up without Hakimi.

In some moments it was basically a 4-3-3 with a false #9, but in some moments it was also more of a front duo with Doue and Dembele being furthest up.

Diomande could look at what quickly happened to Barcola, even if he might be better than him.

There is objectivelly more space and need for him or a player like that at Liverpool than at PSG (where he could begin as their 4th forward or first off the bench).

Can’t be arsed with another season of “
played through to Nunez
offside”

I think people have very short memories. Darwin was a lot of fun when we were winning but he resulted mainly in head slapping frustration.

Do you remember when he played against us? He looked amazing and had the ball in the net three times. Two of them were offside. That should have been the warning.

Darwin became a media punching bag when in fact he never gave up, tried his heart out, every game. I wish some of our lads this season had his energy.
.
Sadly he is history and that’s where I think he will stay.

He definitely gave up towards the end, some of his final performances were uncharacteristically lazy but he probably knew he was on the way out by then.

And he was flagged offside the third time but VAR overturned it.

The game where he hit the woodwork four times was another warning sign.

I think that ship has sailed. Klopp struggled to get a good tune out of him, so did Slot. No reason to think Iraola can either.

I think that was more of a freak, in all fairness.

How about switching to cdm?

Iraola is used to having a striker who does a lot of good work and doesn’t score enough goals.

I’m ready for it, make it happen.

Yeah I’m not the most rational guy you’ll find..and I like it when Liverpool sign players.

It’s made up bollocks on social media why are we even suggesting it’s true?

I don’t know, because things can be true or untrue until they turn out to be the opposite. Like, Liverpool definitely not sacking Arne Slot. Until they did.

And for me it’s more fun to treat it as something that might be true. Because ultimately it’s just something to do while we’re waiting to die.

Happy weekend everyone! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

His control of English wasn’t great but there would be no misunderstanding of Iraola’s Spanish instructions.

His control of the ball wasn’t much better

With all of this Nunez talk, I guess that we need to unlock the Darwin thread.

Or, alternatively, stop the talk.
