The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Why who? Who is it WHO IS IT?

It“s the player he thinks we need.

What are electrolyes?
It’s what plants need

He“s convinced, so that guy must be really good.

That would be crazy, especially after spending so much on a ready made striker like Isak. VVD goes down and we have CB ranks consisting of 2 players recovery from injury with no PL experience and another who can’t be trusted to last more than a game or two. Surely we have to give the new manner a little bit of backing?

Yeah. Im basically not listening to any the whispers about supposed plans. Because Liverpool management still have faith in Karius and believe Ward is ready to fight to be #1

Because he plays like a certain ex hard man red and kinda, weirdly looks like Declan Rice. Better all round player than Wharton too.

Uff better all rounder but not better player than Wharton surely?

He does seem an all rounder but we have loads of those already. Decent tackler and attacks the box well, but is that enough?

Very good football IQ on him and he has that physical edge over someone like Wharton.

He’s flown under the radar and doesn’t really look to cause a stir or create headlines. If he’s available for half the price, it’s a no brainer.

Wharton, Scott, Hinshelwood, Camara, Sangare… I’ll honestly be happy if we sign one or, ideally, any two of these quite honestly.

Hmm i think he has nowhere near the passing game from what I have seen and so couldnt really be a direct alternative, but if you“ve seen a lot more of him maybe you“re right.

This is something I don“t quite understand though.

Many of those players do different things. Scott and Hinshelwood seem a bit similar, Wharton and Sangare a bit similar and Camara different.

Surely it has to be separated that way right? on the roles they do. Signing Scott and Hinshelwood for example would be a bit OTT.

Ideally we’d sign one of the first three and one of the second two, ie a more standard CM type and a more defensive type. I guess ā€œany twoā€ was a bit misleading tbf.

I think with the players we already have we can likely make it work whatever Iraola requires from the midfield as a whole.

If I had to pick, given the biggest gap we have currently in midfield, imo, is DM, I’d be looking at Sangare or Camara first.

Nah we had two

One from Teamtalk, one from Mark Goldbridge.

I think a racing pigeon that died in 1987 is more reliable mind.

It’s just very quiet now for any kind of rumour, reliable or unreliable. I think by now we all know the players we’ve been linked with, but since seeing names it’s been almost complete radio silence.

I just hope the silence means the club is beavering away on deals under the radar as they did at their best, and not because we’ve been caught flat-footed and haven’t got anything on the go.

Usually I’m a ā€œtrust the processā€ kinda guy, and will be here too but I was surprised to see us miss out with so many players we’re being linked to already - Dumfries, Van Hecke, Eichorn, possibly others I’m forgetting too. Doubts about Diomande because of PSG interest and the noise around Wharton coming to us disappearing once Andoni was appointed.

Obviously, some of these reportings may not be as accurate as some are implying but it does raise a question how much do these named players make up of our shortlist for this summer, and how does that change with a new head coach/ manager in place?

I would probably go as far as to say that if what was deemed needed to support Slot had veered so far that it had changed the overall recruitment perspective that would probably have been part of the thinking of letting him go. I’m not talking about specific manager driven decisions on which positions there are gaps, or individual judgement on whether player A was a better option than player B, but entirely different profiles. That story would mean there would unlikely be THAT much different in our planning for the summer. Obviously with new people involved the specific decisions that come towards the end of this process may change but I would be VERY surprised we’re pulling together different lists of players now we have a new manager
