Although for a player of his calibre, stage of career, it would be only responsible from his entourage to have a quick look at a few places to see if there would be any interest.
That wouldn’t surprise me if it was the case. People think it’s all black and white. When you put pen to paper it is, and I don’t doubt he wanted to stay here, but it would be totally understandable if he thought a little bit about it and what other options there might be.
With Real’s average age in defence, wages and other priorities, I don’t think they calculated it would be the right move for them.
