The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Not sure how realistic many of these options are given our HG difficulties not just for the Jan window but in the summer.

We need a winger, midfielder and 2 CBs and are at the limit with the non HG players. Hughes will have some work to do but Guehi would be a good start.

Well effectively Leoni is out, Salah might be going so that’s two.

I dont know how realistic these are but we’ve been linked in previous windows with Guehi, Wharton of Palace, and Rogers at Villa. Anderson might be another English player we may be considering.

As for creating space there are a number of players that could be moved such as endo and those @mattyhurst has already mentioned.

From the BBC:

ā€˜Manchester City would be willing to sell defender Nathan Ake, 30, in January if they receive an offer in excess of Ā£21m. (Sport - in Spanish)’

Maybe as cover while Leoni recovers and establishes himself? Familiar with VVD.

The good thing about Ake is that he’s one who can play LCB and LB. And I think we’ll get one of those hybrid defenders very soon. Of our 8 defenders, only Gomez can play more than 1 position at the back.

The shit thing for him would be that, as a leftie, he’d be behind Virgil and we have 2 LB’s, so basically his situation wouldn’t improve much (if at all) from the current one at City.

Regardless of whether we use him or not… Chiesa is taking Leoni’s spot.

Probably the first to free up. But then arguably we would need another body.

Isn’t that just for the CL spots. I thought the Home grown rule we were talking about is your PL squad.

I was thinking of both… rare that you can sign a quality player and have him be ok off the squad list.

If it matters, I’m pretty sure Ake qualifies as home grown

Is Bajectic home grown?

Also probably depends on how long Isak is out.

Apparently the Telegraph is saying the same kind of thing.

Liverpool are set to rival Manchester City and step up their Ā£65m pursuit of Bournemouth’s 25-year-old Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo. (Telegraph)

And there’s some bollocks from Fichajes claiming we’ve made an offer for Camavinga.

Liverpool have a bid on the table in the region of £60m for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, 23. (Fichajes - in Spanish)

Fichajes will guess right one day.

Camavinga, 2-3 years ago, 100% yes. Now? I’m a little unsure, as his time at Real Madrid has been a mixed bag.

It’s quite possible he is ready to boss it in defensive midfield and could be a revelation for us. If so, I would snatch your hand off.

But I half wonder if Anderson or Wharton might better bets?

Yeah so perhaps at a discount price/free. But Real always expect they can sell their shit for top dollar and have everyone else’s key players for pennies. We shouldn’t expect they will be willing to entertain an offer than makes sense.

I half wonder if there’s a Mac Allister / Camavinga deal to be done?

MacAllister is a smashing player. He was world class last season, but this season he looks like he has played too much football and is below his best. The usual path is for South Americans to try to get to Spain’s big two, if they can.

Just thinking out loud, based on nothing at all, but I am wondering if MacAllister and Wirtz will both shine, fully, in the same team at Liverpool?

Maybe a Camavinga/MacAllister deal might suit both parties?

Liverpool remain interested in Antoine Semenyo.

January 1 is viewed as a pivotal date… if Man City haven’t wrapped up a deal by then, it could indicate other clubs are still in the mix.

Liverpool have made late moves before - including hijacking deals for Luis DĆaz and Hugo Ekitike. Despite this there are currently no fresh developments regarding Semenyo.

Not in the Premier league squad.

The obvious move is to shift Endo on. Slot clearly has no interest in using him and never has done. Why he’s still here I’ll never know.

Should have Elliott back too so if we do want a midfielder Slot doesn’t want to use we might as well have a homegrown one.

I thought we were supposed to have pulled out of the Semenyo deal a month ago ?

And I would think Endo would want to get some game time in before the World Cup. He is Japan’s captain after all, so being match fit for the WC should be high on his priorities. Given his experience in Germany I’m sure there must be a club there who would be interested.
