The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

That was Wednesday’s news. Yesterday we were gazumping City. Today we are denying everything.

Personally, I will believe transfers when I see boots on the pitch. Unfortunately, The Daily Clickbait have to manufacture these things on a 24 hour cycle.

Its done. City bound. We need to move on and get bodies in ASAP - not fuck about until 31st Jan

Can’t remember the last time I cared less about a transfer window.

We could sign Mbappe Yamal and Dembele and still play the way we do, nothing will change until this energy sucking, damp squib of a manager leaves.

A combination of having him in case of emergency, him being satisfied enough here (perhaps not with the minutes this season though) and obviously the market not being crazy over the idea to get Endo out of Liverpool, who is tied on a contract until his age of 34.

I think Macca has been one of our biggest problems.

When he’s fit and firing, the whole team works really really well. Because he knits defence midfield and attack together. Unfortunately, when he’s not working, he’s just a passenger. He doesn’t have the height he doesn’t have the quickness nor stamina of a really robust Premier League midfielder. His world class abilities on the ball normally make up for that but this season that’s been really lacking and his deficiencies have become even more glaring. In fact, I think he’s a bigger problem than Konate. We see Konate highlighted after a series of events have happened. Frequently involving Macca. I’m not saying Konate isn’t a problem.

He either needs a rocket up the arse or we need a replacement.

Until recently, Endo’s Liverpool status didn’t really affect his Japan status. I don’t follow Japan closely enough, I know he didn’t start some of their recent games.

It’s not easy just to shift people on whenever we want and under the conditions we want, when Liverpool are in a good place (being among the top of the football food chain in these times), pay top wages and we talk about a player in his 30’s who rarely plays.

Do City really need him?
Maybe their interest is a smokescreen to delay the move to us. In our current situation any day can make a difference.

If Semenyo signs for a new Club on Thursday/Friday he could be available at the weekend.

If I’m Semenyo, Liverpool is certainly the more attractive landing spot for a number of reasons. Perhaps all the City talk ramped up after we supposedly pulled out in November. With Isak injured long term I can absolutely see us going back in for him aggressively. There were reports that he preferred a Liverpool move. I think there is substance to this.

I think the Guardian reported he prefers us, but then Ornstein reported he prefers City.

Bobb will reportedly leave City if they bring Semenyo, plus some of their players are still out and Silva is entering the final 6 months of his deal. Not the same position anymore, but you can clearly see a City 22 with Semenyo adding more competition on both wings.

At our place, we do have space for Semenyo, but we have more questions what are we even trying to do with the current players we have.

Endo’s been injured hasn’t he, which might explain his absence from Japan games (and does our bench too)

No, because his injury came after the latest international break(s). Against Leeds.

This is Endo during Japan’s last 6 games:

I know that coaches sometimes try something different while they still have the time/opportunity to do so. Especially with days between games.

I think even if Endo plays as much or as little as he did in the first part of the season, his WC campaign won’t be in danger.

How many minutes will he play though, that depends on Japan’s inside situation, which I don’t know enough about. Competition, etc.

We wont be bidding.
Apparently we wanted him next summer. City moved now.
Of course they dont need him…thats never stopped them before

Wild. The kid whose talent was so undeniable that his injury last year robbed City of the option they had been banking on and whose (untested) absence was largely responsible for their failed challenge is now not trusted by Pep now he’s back fit

Cherki (even if he can also play as a #10, but Foden is first choice there so far this season), Doku, Semenyo and Savinho would be City’s 4 wide options if the Semenyo in for Bobb switch happens.

Savinho is an interesting one as he almost left near the end of last summer’s transfer window, but has since signed a new contract (who knows what was his original one like, coming from Girona).

Rumours are it’s one of Savinho or Marmoush that they’d want to move on. Not to mention finding a permanent home for Grealish.

I’ve heard it’s Bobb.

Moving Marmoush on in January doesn’t make sense, unless they bring other players. Savinho I could understand, but he also just signed a new contract. And Grealish could “easily” sign for Everton at the end of the season, if that’s his new permanent home.
