In other unreliable transfer news, weāre being linked (nothing reliable) with Joel Ordonez, a 21 year old CB from Equador who plays for Club Brugge. Not seen the 10 games required to form a solid opinion, but from a quick look at footage, another Konate - young with bags of potential. Heavy touch and iffy passing, but defensively looks decent. Doesnāt look a patch on Leoni.

Still, waiting until summer to compete against all other clubs for Guehi will be a profoundly stupid decision if we still want him. Just toss in 25-30m (still lower than the 35m bid last summer) plus somewhat higher wage than in the summer and close it.
Also, we do need more homegrown players in our squad after Trent, Elliott, Quansah, Morton and Kelleher departed.
Never as easy as that though - especially when the player is free to talk to any club from tomorrow. Guehi can go and demand a hefty signing on fee that is the equivalent of the fees we are talking about, and itād all go in his pocket.
I really do hope that we do get him, and ideally next week, not late in the window.
We need to move on from Guehe and Semeydo. Weve missed our chance with these 2.
There is a lot more to getting Guehi than the right fee and him wanting to come. Even ignoring what others could offer him. I do think he probably still wants to come and something can be sorted, but still depends on Palace having found a replacement. Liverpoolās desire and willingness to do everything we can to make it happen wasnāt the problem in the summer and doubt it will be now, but other factors can scupper it so we need contingency plans.

Thereās supposed to be a gentlemanās agreement for Guehi to join us in the summer on a free. I donāt care about Semenyo because heās limited. We face a low block most games and heās not the kind of player to unlock that. Not saying heās bad but there are better options in other positions we should fill.
