The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

From the BBC gossip section today:

Newcastle United are showing interest in Cologne and Germany Under-21 winger Said El Mala, 19, and in contact over Lille and Belgium forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, 21.

But Liverpool are also waiting in the wings if they fail to land RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, 19, or Paris St-Germain and France forward Bradley Barcola, 23. (Mail)

Newcastle showing interest you say? I think we all know what that means - welcome to LFC Said El Mala and Matias Fernandez-Pardo

Fernandez Pardo looks really interesting.

Quick, can dribble very well and very good shot. His passing game is the doubt, and passing into the box to create for others.

On Palestra, I am surprised if we weren“t looking at him. Good right back and could cover the left.

Lends credence to the people reporting that we want a RB but aren’t prepared to pay decent money for one.

To be fair I do think we could get just as a good right backs for less money than the 50mil being touted for him.

Guela Doue for example before this tournament.

We definitely need (likely) expensive signings in other key areas.

RB is tricky. Do we need cover until Bradley is back or are we looking to replace Bradley or Frimpong? An expensive young signing like Palestra would definitely feel like we are moving one of Frompong or Bradley on next summer and with both being homegrown, we would need to make sure we have the space in the squad for that change. While also having other homegrown players likely leaving the squad in Gomez and maybe Jones, if he doesn’t go this season.

Frimpong is indeed HG, and although he was a huge disappointment to me last season, I’m curious to see how he and Calvin Ramsay will perform under Iraola. Right back isn’t a priority for me.

Makes sense given the faith in Bradley and the spending needs on other areas.

Don’t worry everyone we can sign Gusto once Chelsea get Palestra…

We have Bradley and Frimpong, the idea we were about to drop £50m on a RB is just fantasy.

We’re not Chelsea.

Personally I think just promote Luca Stephenson.

I get that. But that’s neither here nor there. We don’t know what shape Bradders will come back in. We have seen that Frimmers is decidedly lightweight at RB and now has injury problems of his own. He gets shifted off the ball way too easily. I’m okay with Luca stepping up but isn’t he angling for an exit?

Yeah I understand why some want a new RB, but I just can’t see that as a priority unless Bradley is more injured than we know or if Iraola just doesn’t see Frimpong as an option there. Neither are true, though, I think.

Bradley will come back fine, I saw reports he expects to be back before the first international break. Some no mark on twitter saying his career is over means nothing to me.

Frimpong just needs to be coached. Even if he only ever establishes himself as a backup RB that’s perfectly fine for a Ā£20m signing.

Stephenson is linked with a move away to Bolton, I’d just kill that deal. I don’t expect it to happen, it’s just what I would do.

They forgot the decimal point.

Alongside Enzo they do seem to rate their players with Weimar Republic Hyperinflation

I’m going to allow Frimmers , but Bradders is just a step too far.

I’ve liked him a lot for Forest but he’s looked so ponderous with the ball for England. I know not to read too much into world cup performances, but he would give me serious doubts about spending that much money by a team who expects to have a lot of the ball.

This is approaching peak human insanity.
