The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

Admittedly I have rarely seen Anderson play or paid particular attention to him when I’ve caught a game he’s in. But on those odd occasions he’s rarely stood out either.

Caught a bit of the build up to the England game last night and they were highlighting his involvement in the build up play. Someone plays a horizontal pass into him, the forwards start their runs and he was playing that semi-blind, first touch round the corner type ball over the top into the channels.

Pundits sat there eulogising about how good he was at that and how it was him springing those England attacks. All I could think was “ahhh the Jordan Henderson special!” and how infuriating it was when he used to over do that when the pass wasn’t on.

Fees have gone up enormously for what would have previously been seen as a decent but not amazing player.

Yep true.

For that kind of money you want somebody with that cocky confidence a world class player has to boss it, cutting through teams. He hasn´t shown it for England yet. Ponderous

Interesting. I read earlier today Mourinho isn’t convinced with Carreras either, which piqued my interest. But apparently he’s not leaving.

Garcia looks about 40.

Yeah it’s an odd one. If we’ve decided we dont want to bring Tsimikas and need a cheapish back up I could maybe see it, but he is not a guy who has played at a level to think a Liverpool was his next move.

I guess City are confident that the 115 verdict wont be announced anytime soon then…

I know nothing about Fran Garcia but if he is happy to be a squad player, then I could see why we might make the move now instead of next year when Kostas goes on a free. Just leaves us with the issue of moving Kostas on now instead.

Maybe he is secretly African :man_shrugging:t3:

They’ll buy him for £130 mill and then when they get relegated for cheating we’ll buy him from them next summer for a tenner and a Mars bar.

Didn’t sound like he was claiming knowledge of a deal just giving an opinion that he thinks it might happen because Garcia is leaving Madrid and has played for Iraola before.

I’ve heard that it’s going to take a long time. He’s still not running yet. Hopefully comes back stronger in time as both LFC and NI need him

I don’t know where he is up to with his recovery but I saw quotes from David Lynch saying the player himself has targetted being fit for the start of the season, but the club are taking a longer term view to ease him back him hence the look for cheap coverage at RB.

I believe that was only a week or so ago that he was talking about that timeline.

Yeah I saw David Lynch say that about Bradley in a youtube video with The Kop TV yesterday.

If that’s correct about Bradley, we need to bring a right back in. We can’t start the season improvising, with Szobo or Jones again.

I’d expect Frimpong and Gomez would be picked ahead of Szoboszlai for right back (and I expect Jones to be gone because he is set on not signing a new contract). With Bradley meant to be back that early in the season, I’m a lot less concerned about right back then I was before.

It does sound like we looking for someone but I imagine it would be something kind of opportunistic. Probably an experienced player who we’d expect to move on again fairly soon.

Could we perhaps look for a defender who is flexible enough to play every position at the back? That would simplify a lot of things—though maybe I’m being a bit too pragmatic.

It’s sad that a right back is not coming right back :sob:
