100%. Some of the usual silly cunts laughed when I complained about us allowing the Villa deal. Ultimately we control what happens with our players and we (not for the first time) played far too nice to accommodate another club and have ended up screwed. Hopefully this becomes a lesson that we can roll out to the next ill advised player that wants to play for club X instead of moving where it’s best for his career.
Wirtz unequivocally is. Sure we haven’t seen the value yet but the player is definitely worth that in a 2025 onward market.

A backup out be a player with personal gems agreed upon and a club with transfer fee largely agreed upon.
Not random approaches to clubs that instantly reject them.
We look like chumps.
I always prefer it when we just sign players out of the blue with no warning and build up. It gives us less time to piss our knickers.

It’s worth saying that both Liverpool and Palace deny any bid has been made.
Tbf, I don’t think we can know personal terms weren’t verbally agreed. In this case, it looks like there wasn’t a bid anyway - so completely made up.
In the last few windows, however, I would argue that we only ever seem to bid when terms have already been agreed and/or the player has privately indicated interest in moving. The bid seems to be the last step in most of our transfers.
When we miss out on great players, I always take it to mean that they had no interest in us (or vice versa) and terms weren’t agreed. And that helps me think that we do have a plan (with back-ups), but equally we don’t go for a players lower down our list if we think we can do without them and do better next window.
