The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I would guess its the usual framing of what actually constitutes a bid.

Judging by the reports I would assume that we’ve contacted the club to ask if he is available with or without mentioning a figure. To some that may be considered an informal offer or bid.

The reports of a bid though (Fodeh and Romano?) appear to have come from the player side, where we have perhaps discussed with the agent the likely fee Palace would be looking for (and perhaps indicated whether or not we would be willing to meet that figure?)

we are desperate. i land in london and this sarr nonsense and minteh extortion is what im greeted with. teams know we desperate and will tag an extra 20 million for every transfer attempt from lfc. Football gods punishing us for what we did to newcastle (ekitike and isak) last summer. apparantly we made children cry. football god’s cannot let that go when children’s tears are involved…

If I have to spend 90m for a midfielder then I would go for Wharton, not Scott.

I’m sure Crystal Palace will be delighted to turn down that offer in their usual manner

Given what Chelsea are asking for Neto, Wharton 's asking price will easily be above £100M

His price IMO should be below Anderson and Rogers who are WC semifinalists. But 90-100m is to be expected.

Are 3 months of summer we decided suddenly after the Newcastle game that maybe we do need a midfielder.

Not buying it. Much like LFC actually.

FSG are selling up why would they spend dead money, this is all a pose to the fans that they are trying to get player’s yet infact they have zero intentions of spending any more money…

I feel like a lot of the anxiety over this window would be mitigated if we just signed Barcola.

Barcola and Munoz and Rio and Gakpo?

I can live with that on the wings for a year, at least.

Assume we have around 180m looking at our bids maybe 200m

By the way, this is one of the reasons why I wasn’t exactly thrilled with Iraola coming out and saying that we definitely need to sign some wingers. I think that was assumed already, but him saying it only furthered the pressure on us to buy.

If we don’t end up buying, it’ll look like we didn’t back our new manager.

Villa are paying 65m for Nicolas Jackson if that doesn’t sum up how mad transfers are now nothing will.
